A tip if you don't have a calculator. Figuring out that you need to cube 41 is important and automatically gets rid of answers a and c. The reason is the 1. 1 cubed is one. Therefore, the answer ends in 1. Then cube 4, which is 64. That is more that the 16 in the first two digits of B therefore the answer is d.

You’re gonna waste a lot of time punching numbers in a calculator if you rely on it for every part of the SAT—this problem can be done without a calculator because it’s multiple choice. These questions are more about number sense than geometry. The tricks are going to be 1) noticing that 40 times 40 times 40 is going to have more than four digits—it’s easier to get there by seeing the number forty as (40 = 4 * 10), so 40 * 40 * 40 is 4*4*4*10*10*10—and 2) the number has to end in 1, because a number ending in 1 times another number ending in 1 will always end in 1.

First, multiple choice! All the numbers are pretty different! Then Approximate 41^3 to 40^3.... 64000.. closest to D!

When answer spread is high like this you can also know the 1 dimensional edge length to a 3 dimensional volume is just a power difference so 4^3 = 64 and 10^3 = 1000 hence close to but greater than 64, 000 is the answer

This is a trick question, you don't get time to calculate using calculator or a pen-paper, so so have to make a intelligent guess, a cube of 41 has to end with 1, only two options ending with 1, now you have 1681 and 68921, 1681 is square of 1681 and even if you don't know squares upto 50, you can see that 1681 is close to 1600 which is 40 square, so for it to be a cube answer should be 68921.
Oversmart people in this comment section would waste their time calculating the real answer and notice they have wasted about 30-40 seconds on a simple question.
