Here are 5 ways you can help prevent an autism meltdown, MUST SEE!

1. Planning
Planning is key for autistic people and planning can help you prevent many meltdowns from occurring. A lot of autism meltdowns happen because of a forgotten event or a change in plans. If you pre and organise using a planning app or calendar you have a better chance of avoiding meltdowns.

2. Disconnection Breaks
Creating disconnection breaks in your weekly routine is where you make an hour or two every other day to completely disconnect from all demands and sensory overloading stimuli. This help create a Frequencey pattern of calmness.

3. Interest Engagement
Making sure to implement time to do you special interest, like gaming or reading books or researching stuff is important to feed the autistic thrust for interest. This helps to keep your active brain fed and less likely to meltdown.

4. Brillia
@discoverbrillia8327 is a fantastic homeopathic non prescription medicine that is toxin free and super natural. It can help reduce anxiety, irritability and increase focus. These are all components that can lead to a meltdown if not taken care of.

5. Hydration & Food
Keeping well hydrated and keeping in check with meals is a fantastic way to lower a lot of unnecessary anger that could lead to a meltdown or panic.

OMG. Meltdowns are so embarrassing. People just used to call me immature or a cry baby.

Omg thank you! It's so hard to find content about autism that's directed to autistic people, most of it is directed to parents or friends. As an adult who was just diagnosed, this is really helpful!

I've had mini meltdowns too over stuff like a shopping trolley not working after a tiring day
Just felt like a rise of anger and frustration that took a while to calm down from

I've been playing sims recently and find it's quite useful for real life, with the moodlets, having to ensure they are fulfilled plus doing things they enjoy every day as you said. Plus they get tense when music is on they dislike or the weather is too hot so you have to attend to that

Thank you for the help. I haven’t heard “disconnection break”. I will stop feeling guilty about them now.

I had a meltdown at work a little over a week ago and today is my first attempt at going back but I’ve lost all of my confidence in myself. I’m listening to your video as I get ready to go. Thank you! Liked & subbed ❤️
Edit: I cannot, in good conscience as a science-minded Autistic chick, leave without commenting on the inefficacy (at best) of homeopathy. I bet I could eat 1000% the suggested dose and not feel any different. It’s pure woo woo. I do, however, understand your need for sponsorship and there’s certainly something to be said about the placebo effect.

I like to cocoon myself....I really enjoy small spaces, like closets, when I'm really upset about something. I almost feel swaddled or self hug in a way

Hey Dan, great video!
I like that you actually show what a certain situation looks like ( for example sitting at your desk while having a disconnection break). I am autistic and a visual learner and it is kind of hard for me to concentrate if somebody is only talking.
Great content.☺️

I hate having meltdowns, they flare up when I encounter certain things e.g being around someone who annoys me, somebody who touches me without my consent and strangers too.

Thank you for sharing this Dan!! It would be helpful to see what apps you use :) I am currently going through a diagnosis for Autism and have been experiencing a lot of meltdowns ... Personally, I have noticed that lack of food / hydration makes it so much worse.

Hope you are well!! I really appreciate your content, I enjoy the sense of community here and feel that my experiences are valid 😊🥰✨ thank you

I'm also experienced a meltdown period when I was in elementary school because I had a mild autism, at that time I would often throw tantrums at school, cry out loud, also being an aggressive, and my mother had to think about how to make me comfortable when I got home. What I usually do during a meltdown is take a bath, up to almost an hour

Then when I felt calm, my mother would invite me to tell her what happened, why I had a tantrum. But if it's a meltdown, I usually can't tell but I'm can do drawing. My active mom even asked questions and got a picture of her answers.

Thankfully the older I get, the more I can tell what happened. This is very important for my mother, so that she can take the next appropriate action

Yeah, love to see a video on scheduling apps. I got a sub to Tiimo, but quit using that. Never worked right for me, always bugs. Last mail I received was for a bug I submitted months ago. I've had it with them.

For me, I am often dehydrated. Even having a reminder set to drink at a specific time will not help. The only thing that seems to help is if someone in my life tells me to drink something or they physically put a container of drink in my hand.

A lot of autistic people couldn't handle a call center. I love it work from home so I use those breaks even 15 minutes during my day chilling in my bed. So relaxing keeps me calm.

I have saliva issues so it's a balancing act to talk and sometimes hard to understand. That said as you mentioned the research I love that about working in banking finding out what was done. Getting it right.

My biggest meltdowns occur when things speed up. You rush me and there's a problem good luck.

Before my iPhone I had a Filofax and post it notes everywhere and then eco anxiety over my use of paper, and I’d still sometimes miss things. The calendar app, reminders app are absolute life savers. I’d love to know any other apps you use that help. And I’m good with hydration, some days ok with eating… but now have just realised I’ve not eaten yet today 😬 and it’s 7:50pm as I type this, so I’d better eat before I get distracted from that. Thanks for the reminder!
