Math 391 Lecture 14 - Mechanical Vibrations - Motion of a mass at the end of a vibrating spring

Показать описание
In this lecture we cover an application of second order linear differential equations (SOLDEs) with constant coefficients. We examine a spring-mass system, consisting of a hanging spring with a mass attached at the end. Our goal is to find a function that models the motion of the mass. We use several laws from physics to derive the required SOLDE and then we go through a few examples.

Hey. I just stumbled across your channel, and your videos are very helpful! I do have one suggestion though. It would be great to either see the example problems pop up on the screen or link them in the description, because then I could read and re-read the problem, or even try it on my own and then use the video to check my answer. Thanks again for the video.

hi professor, is there a video where you solve these mechanical spring problems where there IS an external force given in the problem?
