Install Forge 1.20+ (Mod Minecraft 1.20) | Client Install Guide

Want to join a Forge server or get your own custom modpack built from the ground up? Well, you'll need to start by installing the Forge client. While this isn't required for modpack installation (as it's all automated nowadays) - This is more for creating things from scratch for a completely personalised experience. Or, of course, a friend's modpack for a friend's server.

i tried this on 1.20.1 and i keep getting the error code 1

I never before have any problems installing forge, and I do as it is in the tutorial... but still despite getting this successful installation confirmation message (like in 1:01, though I had only 6 libraries downloaded, not 65...) but I didn't see the forge version in Minecraft Launcher. Even when I try to find forge in available version (in the create new installation option) it still is simply not present. It also seems that inside version folder the forge folder for 1.20 has no JAR file...
(I did also get message about some available update for the launcher inside of it but It doesn't let me to actually download any...)

Any idea how to fix that?

If anyone is getting the Exit code -1 error or similar, make sure all of your mods are on the same version as the Forge installer, otherwise it will not work!!! hope this helps!

I have tried installing the right version many times and when I run the Forge game in the Minecraft Launcher, it crashes every single time with an Error 1 message. I've been at this for hours.

Mine keeps crashing. It won't even load up, it starts- then it crashes before it opens the game. I watched the logs, but I'm not good with reading them.

I can't believe I just bought this game, and this is not working for me, i have gone through so many tutorials now all doing the same thing, got the same versions, mods folder deleted, changed the jvm arguments, NOTHING, what is going on?

I have downloaded the Forge installer, but when I try to open it, I get a notification that says "unable to find software to open this file". Any help is appreciated, I am trying to install for my daughter and have no clue what I'm doing (you already know this)!
