Here's how to install mods for Minecraft Java Edition. We will show you how to prepare for installing mods, how to install Forge, and how to install the mods.

Downloads for Minecraft Forge:

Here are some common issues and potential fixes when downloading mods via Forge:

Problem: Not able to open the Forge file with Java.
Potential Fix: Download Java if you don't have it. If you do, make sure it is up to date. You can also try re-installing it.

Problem: Forge downloading as an Internet Explorer file or other document.
Potential Fix: Try and open the file with Java. Jarfix is a program you may want to consider.

Problem: When you click on the "installer" option to download Forge, it takes you to a website called "adfocus."
Potential Fix: Hang tight. This is normal and you have to wait for five seconds before you can click a "skip" button at the top right to go to the download page.

Problem: Mods not showing up after they have been placed in the mods folder.
Potential Fix: Make sure that the mods placed in the folder end with .jar and that the version of the mods correspond with the version of Forge you are using. Also, make sure you are selecting the Forge profile before launching Minecraft.
