Don’t mention the good deeds you have done in a manner like that, if you are going to say anything try to be as humble as possible. Say, I took a mission trip to Haiti to provide for others. seeing my positive impact on someone’s life changed mine for the better and I hope to be able to continue this work during my studies st this college.

Writing about mission trips at all in your personal essay is a huge no-no, we’d be told in our writing classes that it’s a big cliche, just like the “we worked so hard to beat the other team” sports essays

In this case, it's preferable to use the word share instead of teach and make sure to talk about what you learnt from it too in order to make it service learning rather than just community service

😂 the funny part is I know people like this and the ONLY reason they did the mission trips / volunteer work is cause they thought it would sound good in a college essay. Didn’t actually give a shit about whatever cause. Don’t be cynical people, help others because it’s the right thing to do, not because you’re seeking benefit from it. You deserve the benefits you may get, but it shouldn’t be your primary motivator to do good in the

Could you do one about including details that are assumed by default? For example: "I volunteered at the soup kitchen for homeless people and gave out asbestos free tomato soup" "my favorite food is uranium free shrimp". Cause to me it seems weird, like yeah it is probably accurate but why did you feel the need to specify.

I find so weird that in America you PAY ridiculous amounts to go to a college and you have to make an essay of your self for them to judge WHAT bland regular people that just go to school and do OK and don't do extra curricular (can't or don't want to) don't deserve to go to college?

I think what can improve that student maybe it’s not only talking about what they did and what they teach but adding what they learn with that experience

true... that writing sorta gave me that vibe too altho I dont bother myself with this stuff usually. And until recently I didnt start thinking deeply about what I write... they may give away very different... emotions... than I want them to give... It gets very... messed up sometimes. 😂😬X
