i was de-burring ABS pipe with my hands held exactly how you're holding them at 2:30, and when the tool slipped out of the pipe (as it does at 2:26, but towards my left hand), the tool sliced a 2 inch gash in my wrist requiring 13 stitches. The ER doctor said I was very lucky. the round tip of the tool kept the blade from severing anything important, but again, the ER doc said I was lucky. Always hold your pipe with your thumb facing the end you're working on and be super careful. The tool looks pretty harmless, but that blade is sharp enough to slice copper, and sharp enough to slice through your wrist.

That room you're standing in looks cold. You should probably deburr it.

Thanks, I have been trying to figure out how to properly debur copper for a while now as few guys actually do it.

Good video the cavitation Hertz pipes for sure usually will cause a pinhole leak one or two inches away from a 90-degree elbow. This is kind of rare but and my opinion good plumbers will always always remain a pipe unless it is on the ice maker or t&p line. It's good you mentioned to make sure the shavings are removed they clog tight orifices or generally cause damage inside the cartridges so every tub shower valve and faucet has a cartridge and the shavings can definitely create problems if not cleaned out of the pipe every single time.

when do you have to deburr the outside, can the tool debur the outside too?

Step bit on a slow speed drill works great for deburring.

I wish I would have known this sooner. A few years ago I soldered quite a bit of pipe coming from my water heater without deburring. How long before I should expect this to destroy my plumbing? Should I go back and replace these pipes? If so, how much time do I have? Thanks.

What would you do in a situation where you cut an existing copper line that is going upwards. You need to deburr right? But the copper shavings would fall down into the existing pipe.

Thank you for sharing your video! After viewing your posting I checked the pipe I had cut and cleaned for an assembly - sure enough burrs! So I went over both ends again with both the on-board tool and a hook ream. Then I looked at the remaining assembly and discovered substituted (vandalized) parts: heavy chipping on the insertion end of the adapters, electrolyte flecked into the threads, and even more magically, a new gauge developed overnight. One even had a brand new name. Almost $80 in copper parts and two hours of sourcing and assembly work gone, and without my safety goggles the set up the work looked identical. Maybe someone wanted another H-beam Piper Alpha foulup.

Does it cause any problems when the tip of the tool causes those scratches/grooves on the inside pipe wall? I noticed the pipe had circular scratches from the tip of the tool going around and around. Does this increase the chance of corrosion/leaks or cause any turbulence?

Your deburring tool seems to work well. Is it a Bahco?

Can you use this for LP gas? Or are those scuffs it’s making on the inside gonna effect the flare?

i'm looking for a hour glass stone on a 1/4 inch hex shank to remove the ridge on the outside of the pipe when cutting L or K copper. (2-3 inch).i know you replace your wheel often will reduce this and a file works just fine

I know it is best practice to deburr copper pipes, but what do you do when the pipe is facing up and deburring would cause burrs to fall into the pipe.

I think you scratched internal surface too much. If you would make flare nut connection on that pipe it will probably be leaking

Did you say "quick" video? It was about as "quick" as a Biblical plague.
