In this video, I'll discuss why I believe lifting weights for women is even more important than it is for men. Many women believe that if they lift weights they will end up with big bulky muscles. This is not the case. When women lift weights they can actually get leaner, more toned, and lose fat in stubborn areas.

There are many benefits to weight lifting for women. If you practice weight lifting along with healthy nutrition, you will lose fat, build muscle, and have more energy. Women who have more muscle mass will burn more calories throughout the day, meaning they can eat more foods. This is a result of a boosted metabolism from the increased muscle mass.

As humans begin to age in their 40s and 50s, their bones begin to get weaker. Weight lifting strengthens your bones and helps you offset this effect, reducing your risk of bone fractures as you age. Strength training for women over 40 is essential in protecting your bones.

There is also a mental health benefit to strength training for women. As you make progress and notice that you are able to increase your weights, you will gain confidence and feel better about yourself.

The best type of weight training for women is Metabolic Resistance Training (MRT). This type of workout combines strength training with cardio.

I started lifting weights in March. It has been life changing. I used to lift every day and now have settled on four times a week. I am 39 with four kids and have never felt fitter. My dumbbells are 10kg each now! However I remain petite, just strong! I now need some new guidance and workouts and and am so glad to have found the sanity of the fit mother project. Thank you. Can’t wait to try the workouts and other fit mother tips.

Ladies, listen to this man! I will be 51 years old next month. I have never struggled with my weight until very recently. I am 5’5” and weighed 133.4 pounds 6 days ago. All summer long my weight has fluctuated between 133 and 134 pounds. I had been paying attention to what I ate and I had been walking on a treadmill one hour a day, five days a week for the past two months. My weight got down to 132 for a day or two during that time but always popped up to 133 or 134. I was starting to become very frustrated and almost threw in the towel. I was accepting that my age was delivering me with a middle-age spread and that there was little to nothing I could do about it. Six days ago I started following the fit mother project plan. I started eating perfect plates and I did my first weight training workout. The eating plan is extremely easy to follow. I have not been hungry once and I feel great. All of my food has been absolutely delicious and I am excited to continue on. I did the first weight training day with a 10 pound dumbbell. I struggled so badly with the workout. I pushed and fought my way through. For the next three days my thighs and shoulder blades were so sore. I actually did not work out again until this morning which is day six. I just couldn’t. It was hard for me to even sit in a chair. What I want to say is that this morning I weighed in at 129 pounds. I already see a difference in my body. I am drinking 100 ounces of water a day. I am following the plan as well as I can and it is working! Tomorrow will be the end of my first week. I am so grateful to the people at the fit mother project! Honestly, this is the first time I have had hope regarding getting rid of my middle-age spread. Thank you. Thank you so much!

I played this video for my wife to give her more motivation to continue weightlifting. She like exercises but is not to much into weight lifting because she does not want to get too muscular. So she only does about five minutes of weightlifting a day.
