I have been trying to learn blender for the last two years (although intermittently, still a hobby) and it never stops amazing me the quantity of info you can get even in the most basic levels from different masters, extrude and right click creates new geometry? Mindblown! Thank you FlippedNormals, the level and quality of info here is the best!

Quick tip for anybody watching:
if you drag in your reference and it's not centered, simple press "alt + g" to clear location, and "alt + r" to clear rotation (or clear in the tool menu, but that's slow).
This of course applies to any object you have selected. "Freezing transforms" in blender is as simple as pressing "ctrl + a" to "apply transformation."

If you apply your transforms, clearing location, rotation or scale (with "alt +G, R or S" will now revert back to this new state.

Thank you! Total beginner here and this is by far the best tutorial for breaking down and explaining the key modeling tools I have found.

Brilliant tutorial. Learning how to extrude and scale a 3d model is so good!

4:02 F9 will bring the settings window back to where your mouse cursor is provided the object hasn't been moved or edited.
Also, SHIFT C to quickly return 3d cursor to world center and SHIFT ALT C for screencast if you don't wanna use add-on. :)

So far this series is the best beginner course in blender. I've made donuts and watched movies about topology and edge flow, but the way you guys have been instructing is very effective... maybe I've just been practicing enough that it's finally starting to click!

Great video series, guys! I love that you are producing Blender content now. I have been following your channel for a bit because I am very interested in using the software you guys utilize (zbrush, maya, etc) and the techniques you have mastered, but since I am only a hobbyist I just can't afford those programs. All that to say that I can't wait to follow along with more Blender content.

As far as suggestions for future content, I would love to see a tutorial for retopologizing a sculpt then using a normal or displacement map to give the low poly mesh the detail of the high poly sculpt (all in Blender, of course). I am very new to this so if all that was nonsense then please accept my apologies.

Thanks again for all the great content!

Just some more information for people, at about 10:00 min in this video they say to press "S" for scaling. They actual mean to hit " I " .. Your welcome.

You can select edge loop with double click on edge as well. Great content as usual, thanks.

Just in case others had the same issue I did when it came to Alt+click edge loop if it doesn't work check your input setting under preferences > Mouse > Emulate 3 Button Mouse (to have the option work make sure that the box is unchecked) or just double click the edge loop. I forgot I had changed the setting while using tablet sculpting...

9:45 when I scale it scales the polygons connected to the face rather than what's shown, even though I layered extrusions

edit: if I have multiple extrusions, select the top face and try to move it, it also moves the extrusions below it

There's also Edge Slide tool you can use on some situations its needed, You can use it with GG. I use it for adding loops and if I didn't move it right or need to adjust them later.

Also I really wanna learn how to model guns but most are in other programs like max (and nothing against max its powerful tool) i'm just so used to blender with it being shortcut based I would like to see a tutorial on gun modeling inside blender.
