A potted fruit tree doesn't get much easier than this. Just give them heat, sunlight, minimal water and lots of food and your fig tree will love you for it.

I just purchased my first 2 Fig tree cuttings today, (Velle's and Common Fig) from a guy on Craig'slist and just came across this channel (thank god).
I've been a gardener since 2000. Love this channel !

Hi Ross. This is Maggie. Don’t know if you remembers me. I’ve mentioned to you before that i plantes 10 fig plant in my backyard but no figs at all. This year finally 7 figs came out. I’m so happy to see that but winter is approaching and leaf already yellow. Fig still green. My figs is going to die because I don’t have a green house. I listen to you and purchase 4 hardy Chicago. Is now still small but is growing nicely. Thanks for the detail video. Hope to see more video from u. Take care Ross

Thanks, also live in Pennsylvania and have been trying to grow figs. My mother used to have them growing like crazy in NJ, she really had a green thumb.

In a previous video you spoke of feeding the rooted cuttings. You said every couple of weeks or so. Do you you a turkey baster and “approx” how much do you water. I have 11 of 13 rooted and leafing out using the hybrid fig pop/tree pot method. Still have them on heat mat.. fleaving town for 2weeks and
need some guidance on what to do with them while gone. Temps will be upper 50’s for highs and low 30’s for lows. I can place them in our pool house bathroom to keep warmer. Also plan on putting my purchased potted rooted cuttings out in yd to get frost to get to go dormant. Is this the right idea. TIA Steve

Question - over wintering. Northeast PA - in garage or greenhouse? Cover for darkness? (Garage). Or leave it winter light (greenhouse)? thanks

I'm in California zone 9B, also growing in containers. How much should I water in the summer and winter?

What do you use to fertilize your figs. I will be trying my first fig this year, a Chicago Hardy, and glad I watched your video. I'm in zone 6B.

I was thinking of using for my potted hardy figs: 10% shredded pine mulch, 10% perlite, 20% potting mix and 60% coco coir. Then adding 10-10-10 fertilizer if ever needed. Any suggestions on my ratios here or elimination of a medium? I plan to transplant into the ground next year

Thanks Ross.

I live in Southern Oregon and was wondering if I could grow figs. You answered the question! The lowest we get is 20 degrees and snow, but who know what is going to happen with the weather

Thank you for so much info. We inherited an in ground fig tree when we purchased our house but never had any fruit. I look forward to planting some trees in pots next year …. Is it better to plant them in grow bags than in plastic pots? I’m glad I discovered your Vlogs.

Can you cover them with a giant transparent tarp to avoid frost? Sort of creating a green house for them?
