I just planted two new fig trees a couple of weeks ago. I actually tried fresh figs for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I went right to buying two new trees.

I just received some cuttings. Wish you had a fig cutting give away. I love different varieties of figs. I use perlite and vermiculite. I took the cuttings put rooting hormone powder and cut drainage holes in the cup. Then placed a second cup to hold the water n drink as they want. I have a deep clear tote and it sits closed to give lots of humidity to the figs. It is in my screen room and sun twice a day. Sun is strong in SC. Within 1 week I got almost all to grow leaves. One is growing a fig? Should I cut it off? Not growing from top- side of cutting. Then I have old yeller and they don’t seem to be growing. I am leaving them to see if they root with no leaves. Is there anything I should be doing? Your advice is amazing

Contrary to popular belief cool temperatures are preferable to grow roots from a cutting than warmer

I brought in a sweet potato plant for the winter to see if i could save it. I thought it died. I made sure it had some sun. Now its growing leaves like crazy. I wont have to buy another one. Same thung with my peacan trees that the squirrels planted in my front yard. I have 5 seedlings now!!!

Was it moist the whole time or did the top dry out some? Surprised it didn't rot like some of your previous cuttings

So do you need sun for then to root? I’ve seen people use the fig pop method.

Question- I live in Ontario Canada and I want to plant my warm season veggies early instead of mid May (2 weeks after frost). I was thinking I’ll put in some floating row covers made of perforated polyethylene. Given that temperatures in April are 12degrees to 5 degrees Celsius, do you think I could start planting in April with this system in place ? Veggies in question are tomatoes melons eggplant etc. ps our April’s are sunny

Some fig varieties take much longer to propagate then others.
