If you thought that fig trees can only grow if you’re in zones 7 to 9, think again! I keep this patio-sized fig tree over the winter (in my basement or plant room) and bring it outside when the weather gets warm. Then I have a crop or two of these beautiful Mission figs that are super delicious and homegrown!

I used to have a big fig tree at my parents place, it was my childhood home in Astoria, Queens. We would get soo much fruit from that tree, and my dad would wrap it with a tarp to protect it from winter... then like you said in spring he would unwrap it and we would love late summers harvest of fruits... i miss that tree🥺❤

I love figs, but only the dark purple figs. The green ones super sweet for me. I’ve only ever seen the dark purple ones in Europe and they are double the size of a golf ball. Something I look forward to when in Europe, also the strawberries 😊😊

My grandma had a huge fight tree in her yard and every summer we'd go out and pick all the figs and just have them as snacks all summer. I live in an apartment and didnt think frowing a fig tree was ppossible. I'm totally getting a patio fig tree now! I gotta get my fig fix 😂

Figs are my favorite fruit too! I used to live in Sacramento and had two giant green fig trees. I'd save my egg cartons to put them in after picking because of the sap. They were so delicious!

We grow Chicago hardy fig here in zone 6b but believe they’re hardy to zone 5. We also have a brown Turkey fig (zone 7) which has come back for 20 years now
