Rupert Sheldrake's: The Science Delusion Dissected

I’ve sought to summarise the ideas and arguments of this provocative and stimulating book in 4 sections. The first, ‘positioning Sheldrake’, is concerned to locate where he’s coming from, and presents him as a composite of 3 kinds of scientist; open minded, critical and heretical. The second, ‘sociological critique’ collects under the banner of sociology, a series of historical, psychological, philosophical and sociological critiques, directed less at the content of science and more towards its human practice. The third ‘Scientific critique’ extends the argument and narrows its focus to critically examine contemporary science by its own values and standards. Together, these sociological and scientific critiques form the basis of his 10 dogmas of science, around which his arguments are built. The final section; Sheldrakes alternatives’, presents his theoretical work on Morphic Resonance and Morphic Fields, his practical suggestions for the reform of scientific practice and the new areas of free minded scientific inquiry, he believes would be made possible by moving beyond scientific materialism.

Being 70, lifelong learning, understanding, observation, experience, re-examination 24/7 365.
I have listened to and read Rupert Sheldrake for a long time and found many of my generation and subsequent generations innocently ignorant to all sciences because of their educational background and general acceptance of institutionalised science as separate to their own levels of intellectual interest and most importantly language.
In short they would rather remain innocently ignorant than question the dogma for fear of being seen as different or even ostracised by their immediate community collective consensus.
All sciences are occupied by innocently ignorant conscious cognosentient beings who are trapped in the eternal money go round, and if we as thinkers can change that dilemma then, and I stress ONLY THEN will a Khun'ian paradigm shift be achieved.
Excellent thesis sir.
Love always

Bern you have surpassed yourself with this one. A great achievement. I appreciate how you choose not to follow Sheldrake's order of ideas and instead provide a synopsis of the book shaped around your own very useful structure. This really helps to get the nub of the book and I found this really helpful, adding to my own understanding and pleasure in this, I agree, very stimulating read. I'd recommend your film to anyone intending to read, or indeed anyone who has read, the book. Fantastic images too - a lot of work here and very much appreciated . . .

Love your videos, I discovered your channel from reading Wengrow & Graeber's book and searching for engaging thoughts on that. I recently ordered this book by Sheldrake, and then I notice that you have already made a video about this, too! You deserve many more subscribers. As constructive criticism I would suggest a microphone upgrade to go with the quality of video and content.

Well, I have, for many years, beleived that the universe started like this...
Once Nothing realised it was there... consciousness.
If you stop looking at the really big or the really small, and just take a short glimpse of right here, right now, you will see your true self, the lone observer of your own universe.
You are God.
