Just remember this golden rule. Insurance company is in the business of taking your money and try their best not giving it back to you. If they appoint a lawyer they will work against you and make sure you loose, then you have to pay back all the claims.

As I indicated in a previous reply: On the USCCA's current website they DON'T provide coverage in several states. Very important information that should be provided by anyone selling this insurance.

You do not want "insurance". You want legal defense.

Here is a section from the USCCA policy that illustrates a problem.

1. Primary Insurance
This insurance is primary except when paragraph 2. below applies. If this insurance is primary, our obligations are not affected unless any of the other insurance is also primary. Then, we will share with all that other insurance by the method described in paragraph 2.c.
below.
2. Excess Insurance
a. This insurance is excess over any other valid and collectible insurance purchased by the “insured”, whether primary, excess, contingent or on any other basis, that applies to an “occurrence” or “covered legal liability” to which this insurance also applies;
b. When this insurance is excess, we will have no duty under this Coverage to defend the “insured” against any "claim" or suit if any other insurer has a duty to defend the “insured” against that "claim" or suit. If no other insurer defends, we will undertake to do so, but we will be entitled to the “insured's” rights against all those other insurers.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
"Primary insurance" defines which company pays first, and has the duty to defend, if something happens.
"Excess insurance" only pays when the primary insurance pays out their entire policy limits.
That is, if you have a homeowners policy with 100, 000 dollar limits, that will usually be "primary." If you have any other insurance, that insurance won't pay anything until your homeowners company has paid 100 grand.

In Paragraph 1, they say that they are the primary insurance, except as stated in Paragraph 2. That is, they promise to pay first. EXCEPT AS STATED IN PARAGRAPH 2.

Paragraph 2a says that they are "excess" if you have any of the other common insurance coverages, at all. It specifically states that they are last in line behind every other coverage that might be applied.

Paragraph 2b says they have no duty to do anything until your homeowners insurance has already exhausted all of their coverage.

That is, if they are ever called to pay anything, they will be last in line. They have no duty to do ANYTHING until every insurance before them is exhausted.

All you are really paying for is an increase in policy limits on your current homeowners, renters, or car insurance coverage - with more exclusions and limitations.

All such policies will probably have very similar wording. Don't believe me. Take the policy and look for "Primary Insurance". It will be in every policy. The paragraphs may even be the same exact wording.

And then, you would go into the other issues and exclusions.
See the video by Marc Victor. His comments would apply to most, if not all, such policies with different wording. He doesn't even get into the stuff about who is actually going to pay.

Don't believe me. Please. Go ask your own agent to review this coverage and tell you who would pay what if something bad happened.

Under Section I – Coverage A – Claim Expenses and Damages
Item #2 Subsection B – Exclusions – Criminal Acts:
This policy does not apply to and provides no insurance for: “Any criminal act by any “insured”, including any injury or damage caused by or during any criminal act of any “insured.”

What this means is, if the shooting is not found to be a self-defense shooting, you are most likely going to be charged with a crime. If that happens, USCCA is not required to cover you. Most people think they are purchasing coverage from USCCA in the event they must use their firearm, but there is no coverage if you are found not to be acting in self-defense. So, if you think that you are purchasing the USCCA Plan because you want coverage if you are charged with a crime, they’re specifically telling you right in their contract, there is no coverage for a criminal act

The only time you give an answer to a peace officer is when necessary and the only time you forget about danger is when you're asleep, even when having fun always pretend danger is a friend who hasn't arrived yet

The answer is simply NO. They have a clause in their contract that says they will not defend you if you've been charged with any crimes whatsoever.
If that's the case, why are you paying them?

I don't expect an unbiased view... 00:00 The first thing you SEE in this video is a piece of engraved plastic USCCA LOGO. This has been a paid advertisement. Stopped video at 00:01

How many times have the USCCA successfully defended someone that had to defend themselves?

I am a USCCA member but what makes me think you're being very biased here is adding your referral code which gives you money for each referral. You lose your credibility with that.

I looked over the cost vs. expected value of the benefit, and it's just not worth it for me.

The odds of being involved in a shooting are just so exceedingly low and USCCA is NOT cheap. It costs nearly half as much as my car insurance - and in my car, I face high danger and high liability every day.

I have known several law enforcement officers. They go into danger every single day and face situations where shootings are the most likely to happen - and most of them are involved in one or less shootings over their entire career. And that's when a person intentionally puts themselves in harm's way every single day as their job. What about your average, every-day person?

If you took the USCCA fee of $20 per month and invested it over a 30-year career in an index fund, at a 10% interest rate, you would have ~$30, 000 in that same time - which is probably enough money to cover you if something were to happen - and you get to keep the money if something doesn't.

When you go to cancel, USCCA forces you to call them and hear a sales pitch before you can cancel. This is not something that legitimate insurance companies do. It's something sales organizations do.

I'm not saying their product doesn't have SOME value. I think the biggest benefit is peace of mind. Like all insurance companies, they make their sales by appealing to fear. And yes, if something happened, it would be great to have the coverage. But you have to carefully think through the actual odds of that and whether the cost is really worth it.

When people sell insurance, they always frame your thinking around the worst case scenario. But the worst case scenario rarely, if ever happens. And when it does, the insurance company fights to pay as little as they can anyways - and you are often still left holding a lot of the bag.

One suggestion people, please read the policy closely . It’s an insurance company.. see what legally an insurance company can cover keyword legally! And if you lose your case read that closely

Please answer this question. Why was Alan Colie represented by a public defender if he had coverage with USCCA

I was in a self defense situation via road rage driver he was drunk loaded on meth and cocaine! I tried to deescalate the situation verbally but fist started flying and I protected myself hand to hand! Sent the guy life flighted to OHSU Hospital! I immediately called USCCA response team they had me a lawyer within an hours! I kept my mouth shut never gave police a statement but 9 cameras surveillance and on scene witnesses said same thing it was self defense I never got charged and USCCA has been outstanding service to me and my family! Without them I’d be paying a lawyer outta pocket and probably end up in prison! The guy that assaulted me spent 6 weeks in CCU with head trauma!! And cops want a statement still from me I said speak to my lawyer! Toxicology report on the guy who assaulted me said booze meth cocaine yet nothing happened to him legally no duii no assault charges nothing! I’ll stay with USCCA might just pick up another self defense company to protect me!

USCCA has AGAIN refused coverage to a paying member, deciding their guilt beforehand. Imagine if they were covering Kyle Rittenhouse, they would have refused that too. Like any other insurance company, they will look for any way to refuse coverage. Don't do it.

Former USCCA members have said that they will not cover costs if you lose your case and will not pay costs if you file a appeal. Is this true?
