Carry the biggest caliber that you can shoot well and you can afford to practice with.

I have had this discussion with friends for many years, sometimes with novice asking me to help them learn how to shoot and with friends who have regularly carried for years. My grandfather told me basically what you said. I carry .45acp with this round in both my primary and back up guns.

Good video. I get so tired of the "experts". My wife was looking at a 22 MAG. I'd rather her carry bigger, but if she is afraid of it, then she won't carry it. The idiot behind the counter told her she'd be better off carrying nothing if it wasn't at least a 9mm. I responded that carrying something is better than nothing any day. I got someone who was better at dealing with women shooters and we found a nice little 380 for her and she loves it. Anyone who thinks its not enough gun are more than welcome to stand downrange. Heck... Anyone who thinks a 22 isn't is welcome to join them.

10mm loaded with Underwood Ammo, or .357 Sig from the same company.

I prefer 9mm only because 15+1 in the chamber. Extra 4 mags 15 rounds each. Then my wife with her 9mm don’t have to carry different ammo. She is 10+1 and 3 extra 10 round mags, the single stack fits her hand. Her Glock 43X fits comfortably, she stays spot on target, her muscle memory works with this gun. My Sig fits my hands and more comfortable. That’s just something that happens, carry what fits, is reliable and takes the wear and tear of your daily activities.

.45 LC has been handling the job for a long time on both two legged and four legged problems.

I like the Ruger 22, I know it doesn't have great knockdown power but I wouldn't care to be hit with it.

Jesse I can understand when you say that what caliber should you use I carry a 40 caliber off-duty it's what I need to stop the threat and you're right what don't let the gun talk what you trained to use in that weapon even in the inbox shooting you do not talk to the police

Some guys sneer at the idea of a .22 for self defense, but there's something to be said for being able to quickly put 4 or 5 rounds into an assailant at short range. But there's also a good reason why the FBI and most police departments prefer 9mm.

That's a difficult subject to cover, for sure!
I can say that I disagree with your statement saying that one should "...carry the largest caliber that you can effectively shoot quickly". Here's why: If I can shoot a larger caliber effectively AND quickly, I still *might* lack the magazine capacity of a smaller caliber that I can shoot just as quickly, AND whose terminal bullet/ballistic performance is just as effective, but whose magazine has a larger capacity. By doing so, I have handicapped myself and necessitated a magazine change, which a larger magazine capacity *might* not have required. Thanks for tackling difficult subjects; keep 'em coming!

Kevin your work is grate can you pleas do a video explaining why some people are Ridiculed in court because of the caliber they carry and explain why some prosecutor and judges decide to work about the caliber instead of the fack that the person just saved his or her life in the situation. Please and thank you I feal there could be much to learn from theas factures

Thanks for another great video! What are you thoughts on adding to the list of things to look for, would be to add capacity? Seems that multiple threat scenarios are occurring more and more. Thank you!

Well there is some handgun calibers that will give you a one shot stop... 500 smith and wesson magnum anyone? You just wouldn't make that a carry weapon... LOL
