Squidward started working at the Krusty Krab well before spongebob did. He even had a full head of hair. And Squidwards grandmother is also moderately wealthy. Additionally, Squidward has tried to kill or get rid of spongebob in several episodes, and he celebrated when the nematoads ate his house. In another episode, he convinced spongebob that he was allergic to pineapples to kick him out. And, lastly, in season 1, squidward specifically told mr. Krabs not to hire spongebob. Krabs hired spongebob because he made enough patties to feed all the sardines

Remember Squid's Day Off episode? I think this theory to be true considering Squidward was put in charge of the restaurant by Mr. Krabs after Mr. Krabs got hurt. Then Squidward tried to get free of his job and Spongebob for a day and left Spongebob in charge of two jobs, but kept freaking out that Spongebob may screw things up. This leads me to believe He was put in charge by Mr. Krabs, not because he is more mature than Spongebob, but also because he may need to keep and eye out on Spongebob too, so that Spongebob is supervised.

This is actually quite a good theory, since it answers a lot of questions about Squidward. Like how he's able to afford to live despite Mr. Krabbs hardly paying him, and why he hasn't moved. I wonder if SpongeBob's parents are also the ones who pay to have Squidwards house rebuilt whenever it get's destroyed.

As a person who has autism like myself I wanted to say thank you for making it clear that not all people who are autistic display traits like that. I just wanted to say thank you for that. It’s SpongeBob it was and always will be one of my favorite shows as a child
Yeah recognizing social cues is definitely a struggle for someone with autism. I’m better at it with the help of my family, but not everyone is as good as I am. This theory does sound pretty believable

Great video.. but.. In the very first episode "Help Wanted" Squidward shocked when he found out that Spongebob would apply for the job in Krusty Krab and immediately told mr. Krabs to not accept him, so mr. Krabs sent him in an "impossible" mission.. If they were taking care of Spongebob, why didn't they accept him in the first place?

All right I have something to say about this theory…. If squidward does make most of his money from looking after SpongeBob. Remember that episode of SpongeBob when squidward lost his job? And SpongeBob had to support him for a while until SpongeBob finally snapped and told him to get a job. So if Mr. Krabs pays him barely anything at all how did this cause squidward to lose his house?
