Huge thanks to Skillshare for sponsoring this video and being a big supporter of my channel!

St. Augustine said it best over 400 years ago, "A true saying it is, Desire hath no rest, is infinite in itself, endless, and as one calls it, a perpetual rack, or horse-mill."

As we become successful, earn more money, and upgrade our lives, we don't find ourselves growing steadily happier on a day-to-day basis. Instead, we find ourselves on the "Hedonic Treadmill", as our desires and tastes rise to match our advances.

So how can you ACTUALLY make your average day more enjoyable? How can you become an overall happier person?

Today, I'll share five habits that make me happier every day. Adopt a few of these, and you'll find your average day improving as well.

This guy: Prioritize face-to-face interactions and don't focus on online relationships.
2020: Yeah, about that.

Coming from a poor, abusive family, I'm happy and happier every day, to have the best husband ever, my own condo, a good job and friends.
So yes the progress makes me happier on the day lie.

The only reason I use social media is for news and most importantly memes. I don't care about followers or likes. It's all about the memes.

To Commute: When i take the tram at 6.30 AM i usually find nearly no place and have to squeeze myself into the tram itself.
When i take the tram at 6.20, i have allyways a seat and its quite alright.
When i take the trap at 6.10, the 1st tram is allways nearly empty and quiet. and the 2nd one is also really nice to ride.

Starts from 3:22,
1. Take free time in your day to explore, tinker with new things and play.

2. Stay physically active by doing activities that are actually FUN. (Meaning don't just be obligated to go to the gym everyday, but do biking or boxing or dance...)

3. Analyze things that annoys on a daily basis and remove or optimize them.

4. Take big breaks occasionally (like vacations) to break off from your normal routine to mentally reset yourself.

5. Prioritize face to face interaction with people over social media chatting and texting.

About number 2: I took a simple route. I replaced my idea of always going on a bicycle to work or grocery shopping, and walk to those places instead.
Mind you, I live in the Netherlands, where everything is far more compact than then US, AND I live in a small city where walking from one end of the city to another only takes about 45 minutes MAX.

So how to make walking fun? Audiobooks.

Since then I upgraded into increasing my activity far more with using a smartband.

Love it Thomas! My 2nd year of college semester starts tomorrow and your videos have helped me prepare myself for my busy schedule of varsity soccer, work, and class, so I thank you. By the way, I loved your book and your recommendation of “Essentialism” ❤️
