I think the secret to Matt’s channel is whenever he’s talking to us it’s like I’m sitting down with a knowledgeable friend giving me his advice.
It feels cosy and comforting 😉

I'm within the 5-10k bracket and trying to figure out which car to buy and these videos are fab. It's so valuable to know what to avoid and which cars require certain maintenance i.e. regular gearbox servicing etc. It makes me more confident when approaching a dealer. Thanks.

You inspired me Matt to have a go and recently bought a Lexus is300 sportcross as a practical family car, for a very reasonable price, far less than 10k, very well cared for by the previous owner who loved it, superb car, not as big inside as the more hearsy shaped cars but it's hard to find much to complain about with it so far. Cool, practical and quite quick.
Thanks for an enjoyable youtube channel I often have them on when I'm working, it's fun listening to a fellow car nerd nerd out:)

I’ve been looking to replace my 2010 Volvo XC70 for about 3 years. Every time I seriously consider something newer I just can’t imagine getting rid of it. It’s the 2.4 D and is an absolute tank. Driving around the Peak District it’s just in it’s element. As long as it’s financially viable, I think I’ll just keep it.

My X-type Premier Sport Estate in Racing Green has been a great load carrier for the last 13 years. Replaced the EGR valve and reversing light switch on top of usual consumables. The 2.2 is a bit rumbler I agree. Enjoy this kind of video, it’s really good to hear your views and insight.

I have an Alfa 159 Sportwagon TDi. It has a lot of GM parts and shares it’s engine with Saab 93, Opel Astra and many others. The 6 speed auto is from Toyota. Comfortable, reliable (yes really), handles beautifully and has plenty of power. Does 1200km per tank of fuel. Love it.
Love your work 👍

Great review Matt. Last week I bought an immaculate Saab 9-3x 2.0 AWD petrol estate with 100, 000mls and FSH. It's a fantastic car, esp as I only paid £3k for it. It's ideal for the Winter weather as my RWD Jaguar XJ can be a bit of a handful once the weather changes 👍

Love my Leon FR 184 TDI. Doing 15k miles a year, it is brilliant! Bigger brakes and independent suspension all round, unlike the other models in the range.

Great timing Matt! I’m on the lookout for a decent family wagon to compliment our C40. Great channel, stumbled across you a few weeks ago whilst looking for Evoque reviews and always lookout for you videos, keep up the good work!

Great timing on a video that has kind of confirmed my choice! My uber-high mileage E39 (270k-ish) has terminal rear chassis rail corrosion above the subframe. As I don't have the time to strip it all down to repair, I've just plonked a deposit on a Euro 6 F11 520d SE. I did contemplate that white one with the chavvy plates, wheels and wind deflectors and these also put me off! Thanks for the great vids!

A very comprehensive guide Sir, pointing out the type of thoughts that goes on in your mind when pulling together car that you like and car that you did not consider. Very enjoyable.

Matt you're fast becoming my favourite youtube channel. Problem is each time I watch you I end up spending the next 2hrs on autotrader!

I'm so in love with the XF, especially the modern one. And I have YET to see ANY of any year in person. The early sedan I see sometimes, looks nice enough, but I want the estate.
Here in The Netherlands it's a rare look, and that's a big plus to me vs all the Mercs, BMWs, Volvos filling the estate lots.
I worry about maintenance a bit. Especially as I intend to take it on epic (and I mean: North Cape, Moscow, Greece, Portugal) road trips.

Glad you came back to Škoda. SuperB is just like a limousine for everyone. And oh my godness the practicality.

I've always had the impression that it's always a choice of thirds - either the Mondeo/Passat/Insignia or the 3series/C-klasse/a4 with the most major difference being the brand category and subsequent expenses for maintenance.

Have driven a 2017 mondeo for work and found it really nice tho, wouldn't overlook it in this budget.

I'm gutted. You did a great review of the Peugeot 508 RXH estate a while back. I bought one after watching your video. I'm typing this from just outside Alicante as we drove down via the tunnel last week. Fantastic run, smooth and quiet. Filled up on the Welsh border, got to Bordeaux, filled up again and got to Alicante with 90 miles left in the tank. 1400 miles on two tanks. Cavernous storage, more toys than Hamleys, and the gearbox is fine once you get used to it. They are hard to find, but under 10k will get you a good one.

Thanks for running through all different estate cars providing really valuable information for the average buyers.
It does help for sure 👍

Coming back to the UK from OZ next year and this has been great info. This vid gave me some models I did not shortlist, despite spending ages on Autotrader. Insurance levels is the only major additonal differentiator for my down selection process... Very good and useful vid, thanks.

Hi Matt, loving your advice on cars, personally myself, a very big Volvo fan! I’ve have had 3 V70’s a yearly 1999 a 2005 and my latest one is a 2010 d5 r design. Which I have owned now for 10 years, hasn’t missed a beat and doesn’t use any oil or water. Has done 194, 000 miles and still drives like it’s done 60, 000 miles. Volvo all the way for me Matt! Keep the videos coming and the road trips. 😎❤️

Loved the comment about National Trust Volvo owners. I’m happy with my Passat 2.0TDi but did consider Superb as well. I know an A4 is cooler but for the money they’re not as roomy and the big wheels spoil the ride quality. Hot 850 Volvos are now achieving classic status so their values are rising.
