.............................................................

This is the revised Skoda Superb Estate!

It’s the sort of car you’d be considering if you were in the market for an affordable yet spacious estate, so something like a Volkswagen Passat Estate or Peugeot 508 SW. The question is, does the revised Superb offer enough to make it a suitable choice in comparison to the competition?

Well, one key area where the Superb succeeds is the boot, with the 660 litres of storage making it the class-leader in this category! But that’s not the only impressive element… There’s a wide choice of trims and engines, including 3 petrols, 3 diesels and even a plug-in hybrid!

So it all sounds pretty impressive, and with a starting price of under £27,000 it’s more than affordable! So is it the all-round class-leaders for affordable family estate cars? You’ll have to keep watching to find out!

We have to give it up to Skoda for redesigning quite tastefully.

I work with VW company as a mechanic in sweden and I actually think that the newer skoda models are very much worth the price than VW.. The new Octavia 2020 models are much nicer in the interior than for example the Golf 8..

Respect for Skoda as always. Not a car for an enthusiast but a practical car that makes sense for any normal person.

Is it just me, or has VW's quality dropped off so hard, a Skoda seems more premium?

I'm driving my 3rd Superb. The two first ran 258k, 250k kilometers with one towing each - one for a dead battery, one for a broken waterpump. The one I'm driving today and for the next year, has run 384k kilometers with zero towings, and a total cost of maintenance (excluding brakes, tires and service) of less than TWO US CENTS per kilometer. It's a 190 Hk diesel with 6-speed DSG from 2016.

I have a 2018 Superb 2.0L petrol SEL executive (hatch) with 280bhp & 4x4 (0-62 in 5.8s & 165mph - you should see the faces of 'fast car' drivers who get left for dead!). List price in 2018 was £35K but negotiation with the excellent Skoda dealer reduced that to £28K (had to take the PCP to get that price but paid it off immediately). I've driven it in all sorts of weather conditions (including deep snow today) & it's always Superb in every way. I love it!

I've driven one with 190hp for about 1100km last year, very comfortable and the adaptive cruise control is amazing. Perfect for a company car, or anyone who is travelling long distances a regularly.

Can’t wait to be picked up drunk in one of these when the pubs finally reopen.

I've got a 2016 Skoda Superb, chosen really after watching Matt's group review of the Superb, A4 and Passat estates. Really pleased with the car overall. Mine is the L&K model and it appears to be missing some features that I had thought were standard at that trim level.

Agree that the gear stick does seem unnecessarily large, however there are times when you do want to control the gear that the car is is - especially on twisting mountain roads in ski resorts. Not sure I'd upgrade to the newest model though - there does not seem to be enough of an improvement over the generation I have. It would be a big cost to get get wireless Android Auto and a sunglasses holder.

Great cars. I picked up a 2018 Sportline 280 4x4, stuck some Koni Acitve shocks on it to improve the suspension and a stage 1 remap for 350bhp. Great family car and it surprises many people off the line.

Matt, you’re just great in reviewing cars. I went ahead and bought the sportline because couldn’t agree more about the fact that you’re simply getting more value for your money.
Great car by the way.

I bought a 19 plate Superb last year and it’s the best car, by far, that I’ve owned. Would not hesitate to recommend the Superb to anybody

7:04 The Skoda is a Slavic car so of course it has to have an ashtray or where would we throw our empty semechki shells. Did you think we throw them out the window or something.

Rolls owners: "We have an umbrella in our car door." Skoda owners: "we have one too and it's more fancy too!"
