I love how Scott's videos are 10 years old but still much more informative than all these new videos.

For beginners like me, best tip for any type of rowing exercises: concentrate on pulling your elbows back and not your hand. Once I did that, I was exercising my back more and my bicep less.

Can this exercise be performed while wearing a shirt?

1:40 Should I be doing that “shhh” as well for gains?

I tried to pull a "Scott Herman" at my gym and they told me to put my shirt on or I had to leave.

This is a really great exercise, when I started doing this just before I turned 15 years old I got 10 reps with 11 kilograms (24 pounds). After about 2 months of doing just 1 set per workout, I can now do 15 reps with 31.5 kilograms (69.5 pounds). This made my lats show really quickly.

The flip at 1:53 was the most impressive thing in the video

Basically your whole back, biceps, and forearms.

From your back it works the lats, rhomboids, traps, teres, posterior deltoid, erectors, etc...

Very good exercise and he does a good job on form although I pull the dumbbell farther back to the hip.

I’m lifting weights again (instead of just cardio) for the first time in many years. Form is super important to me so that I avoid injury. This is definitely one exercise that I was getting totally wrong! Great video. Thanks.

As an old dinosaur now, my past gym mentors and workout partners used to tell me to slightly raise my head when doing these rows, slightly, looking forward rather than down. The reason given had something to do with keeping muscles in the neck from being pulled. Of course, this was for when lifting heavy. I'm now 65 and am trying to regain some of what I lost after 8 years of various surgeries. With that in mind I'm currently using 70 pound dumbells for this particular lift, 4 sets of 10, and as before I'm lifting solely for mass and strength gains (power-lifting). I just wish my recovery times were what they used to be 23 years ago. At 44 I was huge. I know I'll probably never bench 400 again, but am hoping to get back to at least 315 pounds on the big 3: Bench, Deadlift and Squat.
