Between Aaj, by Bloodywood, where Archy sings there (no words, just notes), and then the vocals here, what I'm loving is the combination of Indian words and the Irish lilt she places on certain words. I don't know why, but the way Archy sings the lyrics she does isn't just beautiful, but it's emotional too. Think about it: Two cultures, half a world away from each other, both oppressed by the same country at one point -- yet both places, India and Ireland, rose above their circumstances to not just survive with their cultures intact, but the music particularly.

And now we get to hear a bloody good fusion of the two, plus Archy's amazing voice.

Thank you for doing what you do, Archy. It means more than you know.

Edit: And in case anyone might wonder why I love this lady for her talents, it's because her boyfriend's band, Bloodywood, only a few years ago saved my life -- and the more I think about the lyrics here, the more I feel like this song is almost telling them "thank you." Because everything Archy sings about, for me, was true: I was in the dark. I was lost. And Bloodywood, through Jee Veerey, gave me hope and showed me a way out. And as she says, I came back victorious. And the best thing? That this feels like a coming home celebration. Because a celebration of that sort, if be a truly joyful one, should always have dancing! And if we Irish know anything, it's how to get people up and dancing -- as do our Indian brethren.
