I switched to Opera a year ago and never looked back, and I've used many other browsers before.

- Chrome is a resource hog and contracted an adware virus no service could remove.
- Firefox only works half the time, the other half it would flat out refuse to load anything, sometimes for hours on end.
- Edge does not support some websites that I visit often.

I stopped using Chrome a few years ago. I used Firefox for a long time (still use it from time to time) but prefer Opera. With Opera I can view YouTube without commercials using the built in blocker. I can also watch CW channel commercial free. All that and it doesn't spy on me.
These days, I believe browser choice is really more of personal choice, depending on what you use your browser for. Each has its merits and each has its detractions. It is more about what you want in a browser and what you do not.
Finally, because this is about two years old, it can't cover the improvements made to Opera in that time, but now that I have discovered that - I'm too lazy to remove my comment.

I decided to install WinXP on my older PC, and just 1GB RAM is way to little for RAM hungry Chrome.
I decided to try out Opera, after coming from Firefox, and years on Chrome before that.
To my surprise Opera even runs from the USB stick. =)
I recommend Opera if you're on a tight resource budget.
Edit: Yes Opera is faster than the usual suspects, atleast on my old box.
