It really broke me that there was nothing that Guts can do but watch and cry. Its different from most animes where he suddenly becomes strong and saves his loved ones like the power of friendship, but here its different. Hes only human he can't fight godly beings. In the end, its just reality, he is just human. Heartbreaking.

I feel like the 1997 anime adaptation isnt getting the respect it deserves, the animation was great considering the year it came out in. I hope that other than the fanmade anime that is coming soon, someone will, one day make justice to the masterpiece that is the manga of berserk, one of the best if not the best manga of all time. Whether in 2, 5 or 10 year its irrelevant, i'd rather wait 8 years and get only 12 episodes but in those episodes really feel again what i felt reading the manga for the first time. The beauty and the horrors of the medieval fantasy world, a story development that fullfills into the true nature of the human being, of what an individual is really capable of to reach their goal, to what point the mental health of someone can be pushed and still how the same can continue to push forward, to see the light at the end of the tunnel even when all you can see around you is dark...

The way Berserk portrays human relationships is tragic and beautiful. Guts and Griffith were great friends and together I'd say they made each other better people (well, better relative to the other ruthless mercs we're during the golden age). But however great their friendship was, however exhilarating and fulfilling it could have been, their relationship was always second to their dreams. I think Guts always wanted to stand tall on his own strength, prior to the eclipse he was always someone's lackey and it starved him of the growth he wanted as an individual. Griffith wanted to be a king and everything else came second it that. At the start of the Golden Age, their friendship was mutually beneficial, with Guts being Griffith's most powerful and trusted friend and Gut's become one of the main leaders in the Hawks.

Literally best edit ive ever seen! The moments of the anime are placed so carefully telling the story so beautifully. It isn't cringe, or overfilled with effects and transitions which take away from the edit and the music. Also good choice with the song, it fits really well and is a classic one of Kendrick's. 10/10 bro, good job.

The first line: "Loves gonna get you killed, but prides gonna be the death of you and me" (and so on when he kept repeating the last words) match the eclipse so well because Griffith's pride was the reason for their deaths. He could not accept the condition he was in and that was it for him, so he sacrificed and killed all of the very people he had cherished, and who were there for him, all because of his pride.
