Pride caused me to miss out on countless opportunities in my life. Many times in the past, a career opportunity would present itself to me, but if it wasn't at a certain level, I would take a hard pass. I did this over and over, until there were no more opportunities. Then, I had nothing. Eventually, I realized that I had to go down to go up. I ended up doing something mediocre, excelled at it, and rose to the level I wanted to be at initially. Sometimes, you have to take a circuitous route in life.

The real danger in pride is that it blocks empathy, which is the foundation of “love thy neighbor.”

Man, this was timely. Thank you for this. I struggle with pride quite fiercely. I appreciated that part of describing the Doctor of Philosophy, '"I did it all myself'....but, who paid for his education...who gave him his above-average intelligence?" Great perspective shift.

I believe dignity and gratitude are more important for self worth than pride.

Pride, power and entitlement. The 3 deadly traits most people have. Most people believe they are better than you because they hang in hyena packs. People also abuse their authority that they may carry just to make a point. These people believe they are higher than you, higher than god. Step back. Let them flex. The most high will make sure they receive what they put out. Only the most high can make these narcs fall from grace. They can never take what they dish out. And they will be put in the same circumstances that they tried to put you in. Let it play out from moment to moment.

I stopped using “pride” at all some years ago… people would say “are you proud of your children?” - I’ve begin saying, “No, I’m thankful for them..”

Pride is what I’ve done, while gratitude is what God has done for me.

Great explanation. Pride is when people have low esteem and overcompensate by reducing others to elevate them. Dignity and mutual respect that acknowledges difference, but doesn't create vertical structures of better and worse are what we should be teaching more of

True humility, leaves no room for pridefulness. Just as pridefulness leaves no room for humility.

I love the combination of Christian Theology and secular rationality. The two dont always contradict. This video brings both into a fusion dance.

Pride can make one feel that he/she deserves something. This is so so true...

I think pride always needs comparison with others and it's nicer to just be in your element and be grateful and happy when you achieve something.

Some amount of pride is important. If you have no pride, you will allow yourself to be trampled upon, your feelings overlooked, and your family disenfranchised. Some pride is necessary for one to have confidence. However, our pride must not exceed or humility. We must be able to acknowledge how far we have come, while remaining grateful for our opportunities, and humble in our realisation that it can be taken away from us. We must not be complacent, or believe that we deserve what we have been given.

In my opinion, pride is the root cause of the civilizational collapse we are currently experiencing in the West. It all started with the individual becoming less and less relevant for society and for itself. The Industrial and Technology Revolutions brought us a lot of well-being but we've lost our humility and with it, our souls. Knowing this deep inside, the individual tried to remain relevant and how can you do that if not by comparing yourself to others. We are living in a huge epidemic of narcissism with millions if not billions of people posting their perfect lives on social media. "Look at me, I'm better than you, give me your like". In a matter of 4-5 decades, society started to collapse and in 2020 the real implosion started. The mass formation would not have been possible without pride. All the virtue signallers save grandma who asked for more harsh measures and more dehumanizing restrictions. The vast majority of humans traded being human o signal pride. We traded everything that makes us humans for the pride of showing others how virtuous we are, how we believe in progress and science and we are good citizens that deserve to be cherished. No wonder the "rewards" for taking the poke in the arm were related to those 7 sins: food, badges of honor, access to the concerts and so on. I truly believe it is PRIDE which brought us where we are and PRIDE will be humanity's downfall just it was Lucifer's downfall.

While it is important to be proud of one's accomplishments and to have confidence in oneself, it is also important to recognize that no one is perfect and to be open to learning and growing since there are dangers in allowing certain negative emotions or behaviors to become excessive or dominant in one's life.

Like everything else in this existence, Pride is defined differently by each individual. When anyone tells me I should be proud of having done what I did, my reply is, "That's one way of looking at it." And that is my thought of reply for every evaluation, made by me, and by others. Thanks so much for your deeply thought-generating videos! You are my favorite YouTube presentation, along with Shirley Șerban of New Zealand.

This man is incredibly intelligent and has answered questions that I have been internally battling with for years. The way that he writes is excellent; he clearly has had some professional education on writing and speaking. Thank you for this wonderful piece of work, sir!!!
