A Serious Runner Does an Easy Run

Easy days easy! As a #seriousrunner I know the importance of incorporating easy runs into my marathon training plan. There are a lot of questions about Easy Runs... how fast do you do an easy run? what is easy run pace? how slow is too slow for an easy running pace? how do I appropriately title my easy run on Strava?

Join a Serious Runner for some easy running.

Thank you to Stephanie and Sage Canaday of @Vo2maxProductions for the help with the filming!

Sounds like you are struggling to control your pace for easy days, you need a group of hobby joggers to slow you down! In this case, you need to make sure you call out who you ran with on Strava so your followers understand that you ran with someone slower so they don’t get concerned! 😱😱😱

Well done. Pro tip, join a group doing a tempo run and agree to join them because it'll count as your easy run. This way you can assert your dominance over the hobby joggers and make them feel bad.

You missed one: stating on Strava that you’ve run with someone else and name them in the title - implying that it’s their pace not yours.

Am a former 2.16 marathoner, I run always my easy run 5.40-6.30 min/km= 9.07-10.30 min/mile ..

Whenever my body isn’t up for ‘easy’, I just stop the watch and rest for a bit. Then I get to running ‘easy’ again. The 🔑 is to have a Strava pace that’s faster than my race PR.

Love the Sage cameo appearance(s)! Makes me laugh every time! But seriously, I've been telling myself for a couple years, "I really need to learn to slow down." Great video!

I've just come across this channel and I'm so pleased to see someone that really *gets it*. I mean, if we ran our easy runs at 9:00 pace (or even slower!) people might think I was just some mediocre, middle-aged weekend warrior trying to relive the past glories of his so-so past sporting life and not the serious, nearly sub-sub-elite runners that we actually are. Just one nit to pick; you didn't actually say to "Mash that like button and subscribe" at the end of the video which I think is kind of necessary to be a proper YouTube running channel.

I can’t wait till a 9 minute mile is actually easy for me. I’m really bookin it at that pace haha.

Hahaha I just recently saw someone posting a sub 17 5k as an "easy recovery run"... When I commented it became clear that people just don't get what the easy run is there for. This hits the nail on the head.

This is the best video I’ve ever seen on this website

A great reminder why I’m perfectly content not sharing my run data with others. Between my vanity and self-expectations, I’ve got enough pressure to keep this in check.

Very timely video. My strava title today was "Easy Run with new King Gizz". That way, people know that I took it easy to really focus on the new album that people need to know I listen to.
