About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

I was lucky to have seen Bowie 18 times. I was 13 when I saw my first concert.
I'm 66 now. I mourn the fact that I'll never see another live concert.

David Bowie was one of the greatest musicians and entertainers of all time. His music was loved in the 70's and is still enjoyed today. may he rest in peace!

Kids today can't understand how shocking this was back in the early 70s. The old boys who fought in the war were just middle-aged and upon seeing this they believed society had fallen apart.

50 years later, we live in a freak show and it's still the best seller. Lennon keeps selling, the boring movie story keeps repeating itself, and the question remains, is there life on Mars?

David was, is and always will be a genius. An artist far ahead of his time

I love the fact that just after 2 hours the video has been posted, there's already almost 4, 000 views. Great songs - and great artists - are never forgotten.

The song, the vocals, and Bowie's beautiful visuals make the perfect MV. Such an incredibly talented man. Love you David. Miss you. ❤

Lyrics :)

It's a God-awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling, "No"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seat with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it ten times or more
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on
Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man, look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?
It's on America's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow
Now the workers have struck for fame
'Cause Lennon's on sale again
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns
But the film is a saddening bore
'Cause I wrote it ten times or more
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on
Sailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man, look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?

It's amazing how he can change facial expressions so smoothly — stoicism, skepticism, disdain, sorrow, muted joy, even menace — all within the course of this astounding song.

It's sad that we'll never see someone as brilliant as him ever again in our lifetime.

David's finest hour without a doubt.
Struggled for years to get a breakthrough hit and ultimately became a rock icon.
This song has lyrics which are hard to fathom and it has many different meanings to different people.
A true classic which brings back unrepeatable memories to me personally.
God bless you David.

Ive been a Bowiefile since about '79. Finally got the see him live at the US festival 1983 in Devore CA. As Bowie aged his voice changed from this childlike quality to a more bass tone. By 83 he had a much deeper base tone voice from his early years. This was "Serious Moonlight" tour. When he sat down at the piano to do "Life on Mars" he somehow used his young childlike voice. Absolute genius. When he toured for Glass Spider he hired Peter Frampton because Frampton was not getting a lot of work. When they sang "Sons of the Silent Age" Bowie sang the bass and Frampton sang the falsetto. Perfect. Absolute perfection.
