How To Change Oil On A Chevrolet Truck With A 5.7 350 V8 Engine

1. Warm up the engine.
2. Park on a flat surface.
3. Remove the drain plug and drain the oil into a pan.
4. remove and replace the oil filter.
5. Fill it back up with oil to the top line on the dipstick.
6. run it for a few minutes, check the oil level, and add oil as needed.

Here is how to change the oil on a Chevrolet truck with a 5.7 liter 350 V8 engine. Doing an oil change on a Chevrolet truck with a 350 engine is easy, but it can be a little bit tricky if the truck is a 4 x 4 four-wheel-drive model. The Chevrolet Silverado truck in the video was made in 1995, and this should work on any old Chevy truck with a 5.7 liter V-8 engine. If you want to learn how to change the oil on a Chevrolet truck, this video will show you exactly how I do it on my Chevy truck with a V-8 engine.

Changing the oil on a four-wheel-drive Chevrolet truck can be a little bit more difficult because the oil filter is above the front driveshaft and is hard to get to. In this video I show you how to remove the oil filter on a four-wheel-drive Chevrolet truck while doing an oil change.

Here is where to order a repair manual to help you fix your truck:

Thanks for this video, I’m working on getting an old ‘78 Chevy truck up and running healthy again, never changed the oil on one and wanted to find the oil filter before I did so tomorrow.

"I'm using the old man internal torque meter" haha nice. I use a wide variety of lazy young man internal meters but they're not as trusty I'd imagine lol

I use that oil too.... 240k on my xterra and going strong. Thanks for filming this, I know what a pain in the ass it is to film like you did, it probably added an hour to a 10 minute task.

As said I also already know how but if you put out a 1995 K1500 video I’m going to watch. Great video if you haven’t done it. Might be good to mention the bolt head size on the plug in the notes at least. I don’t think it’s there. I use a 9/16 but there is probably a similar metric. Thanks for the video.

Alright guys I gotta project car and I can not find where to put the oil In the car or the dip stick, I can’t find it anywhere. It’s a 1991 firebird with a swapped 350. There is just simply no place to put oil in and I cannot find it. It has different head covers( I think that’s what they’re called they have flames on them). I need help 😂

My 350 has the filter in the same spot as you but I’ve noticed some other 350’s have a filter that’s straight down and much easier to get at. I wonder what determines that?

is it better to use 10w40 or 5w30? mine is 2 years newer and it calls for 5w30, but i want to put oil in it that will last a long time. which would be better. mine has 217K so i need the high mileage oil.
