I just run no oil in my engine. Saves the mess when you change the oil filter

I just Bluetooth the oil in the filter to the drain pan, makes changing the filter easier

Garbage truck mechanic here: make sure you get the filter loose first. Sometimes there a fight to get off. Also make sure you have one to replace. One time a guy punched a hole in one and we were out of stock on that filter and he didn’t check prior. We had to make a special run to Mack that day just for a filter.

Tip #2 crank the new filter on as tight as possible for the next guy.

I just change the engine every time I’m due for an oil change.

Solid tip... Also if your customer ever accuses you of reinstalling the old filter you can show that it was destroyed before it came off the car and couldn't be reinstalled. Another protip is to always mark the mileage and date the oil filter was installed on the outer housing.

Pro tip: Let it finish draining first before taking it off.

Subaru boxer engines have the filter on top of the engine right front. So no mess because it is almost fully drained already, wonderful.
