Emmett was a sincere partner who was a great love interest because he is a good friend to begin with. I love how excited she is by getting a wedding venue he wanted. I get excited by finding a really good gift, and I think that's a good mentality, to a degree, to have in a relationship, wanting to make the other happy. They also help each other follow their own dreams, neither of them step back from having their own thing and encourage the other to have their own thing. It's not always easy, but it helps when you know the other is right there whichever way life is going.
Also they care about each other regardless of if they succeed or not, they aren't trying to set a bar for their level of success or comparing who's doing better, they want each other to be proud of trying and getting back up again, but are also okay with them needing to step back or take a knee before getting back into it.
