Respectfully I will present my opinion.

Mexico is different than all other countries when it comes to race and skin color as it does not officially recognize any differences. And practically most of Mexicos population is comprised of people with both European and Indigenous ancestry. This mixture has been happening for 500 years and this will never stop. For my personal experience these are the people that will always rule the country, the Mexican people not the Europeans nor the indigenous if any. Know this 99 % of the Mexican population do not care what percentage of European or indigenous DNA they have. We are past that. It’s usually the foreigners in Mexico that talk about this forgotten subject.

In Mexico, being white does not necessarily make one stand out, as there is a significant white population descended from Spaniards. This concept of whiteness contrasts with the United States, where 'whiteness' is often associated with Anglo-Saxon heritage rather than skin color. Consequently, in the U.S., one is generally not considered both 'white' and 'Mexican, ' whereas in Mexico, this is not uncommon—especially in cities like those in the Bajío region, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, as well as Puebla and Mexico City.

While being white in Mexico may not make one conspicuous, it often confers a certain level of privilege. This is a legacy of over three centuries of colonial rule, during which white individuals were—and often still are—positioned at the top of the social hierarchy. The media frequently perpetuates this dynamic by equating whiteness with affluence and power, thereby reflecting and reinforcing societal aspirations. A phenomenon that is also present in other Latin American countries, not only Mexico.

It's important to note that this situation is distinct from racial dynamics in the United States. Americans find it challenging to understand Mexico's unique historical context and current social landscape because they tend to project U.S. racial power structures onto Mexico.

Far from achieving its purpose, this video only highlights the perspective of whoever made it, from an american viewpoint and not the reality of how Mexicans are conformed.

If you watch the Mexican telenovelas, 90% of the actors and actresses are white Mexicans, with some being like super diluted mestizos, with more European blood. I remember when Alfonso Cuaron casted Yalitza Aparicio, an indigenous Mexican woman, for the lead role in his Oscar nominated film Roma, she received a lot of backhanded compliments from other Mexican female celebrities, like Yuri, Laura Zapata, and Patricia Reyes Spíndola. Basically, they were saying how proud they were of having a Mexican nominated for an Oscar, but they all doubted that she would even remain relevant and survive in the film industry, because she doesn't have the stereotypical look of a leading Mexican actress (basically, a woman with more Eurocentric features).

Fun fact: In Mexico a lot of people that like the sport of box are brown and they love to be represented by clasic brown or mestizo mexican champions; and a lot of those aficionados feel offended by the fact that Canelo is ginger. They say Canelo does not represent "la raza" (the race); so they say bullshit about him. The fact is that Canelo is mexican and he is the unified and undisputed champion. Racism can also come from dark skin people against light skin people.
I am not going to answer to any Canelo hater. I don't have time for that.

Bro, i mean I'm Mexican, I am light skinned northern Mexican. The reason why we exist is the same reason why there are so many Euro whites in the USA man. . We are the decedents of Europeans. BUT My dad was super dark, well educated, wealthy, where my mom is very light skinned Spanish heritage. Being white in Mexico is NOT like you stand out man, i don't care if you lived in CDMX that's an unfounded bunch of assumptions you are making about our culture.. we all see ourselves as Mexicans. Period. The cast system in Mexico where differentiations are made is wealth, there are class issues in Mexico, but it is more to do with wealth than what color skin we are. Just so happens, not coincidentally that whiter Mexicans come from old wealth. No different than the US really.

In Mexico, there is a region called “Los Altos de Jalisco” in the state of Jalisco where there is one of the largest white urbanizations in Mexico, with green, blue and light brown eyes, even blonde and brown. If I remember correctly, it was a region where many French families stayed when France dominated Mexico for the second Mexican empire, in addition to the fact that the Spanish loved that place, and their descendants continued to be there.

9% whites is not accurate. That percentage was defined by the perception of Mexicans of their own race. The Mexican government never profiled racially its population…. Until recently….

The result? Around 50% of Mexicans have European or predominantly European features…. Mexico is, much whiter than people tend to think

The lead actors and actresses in Mexican soap operas look Northern European. The darker skinned are relegated to roles as maids, field hands or drug dealers.

Good point, but one question: Show me in Holywood a single white Mexican who is famous. That is the reason why the restof the world think we do not exist. Every time we go outside of Mexico we have to deal with the famous and very insulting: "You don't look Mexican nor act Mexican."

Harsh truth here but the founding fathers of Mexico never wanted Mexico to be a Brown country even Jose Velascos the guy who promoted Racial Mixing in Mexico had Nazi ideologies he wanted Mexican people to mix but he wanted the European component to be the majority of the Country meaning that he wanted Mexicans to be Castizos this is backed by the governors of Nuevo León Coahuila Tamaulipas chihuahua Sonora Sinaloa Jalisco who said that those states don’t share any indigenous cultures or foods since most foods and drinks in northern Mexico have European Arabic and Even Jewish influences mainly Mediterranean and Germanic like the Mexican beer and music corridos was created by German immigrants who came to northern Mexico

Mexico City isn't known for its white Mexican populations usually people in the south are darker and more indigenous looking. One issue is the 9% white thing is possibly not accurate. Mexico doesn't keep up with "RACE" since Mexicans as a whole are a biracial people of many generations. We don't know the exact demographics of race in Mexico. But the majority are Mestizo and you have to remember that someone with blonde and blue/green eyes can be Mestizo just as much as a dark brown skinned person can be mestizo . For these very reasons Mexico doesn't ask because its a sensitive issue and we as a whole are NOT a racist people so we don't focus too much on who is white and who isn't. Its not that Mexico is "obsessed with white people" Its just that Mexican whites or just very attractive Dark Mexicans tend to go into entertainment because they are more marketable by Hollywood standards its a beauty thing. In America arent blondes more marketable and symbolic of supreme beauty?. Look at Brazil by looking at the models that come from Brazil you think all of Brazil was white tall and blonde. Cuba the same and Argentina. Ive seen the demographics and they arent white majority maybe because they think identifying as white is best. But Mexicans know we have white, Mestizo and indigenous populations its a very diverse group there are Asians and black as well. However since the beauty standard was a light skinned mestizo or white it just became that way. There are light skinned Mestizo with dark hair and eyes but look closer to European but they can be called white according to public opinion. You cant really classify Mexicans racially in one category since they are an ethnicity and not a race. And a white person to me in Mexico doesn't really stand out if you are black or Asian that would stand out more than a white person since there are tons of white Mexicans walking around, of course it depend what part of the country you are located in and how common or uncommon the shade of skin is as Mexico has different skin colors from region to region.

It differs from the US in the sense that being light-skinned might generate class-differences but never cultural irreparable shifts like the US. Mexicans at the end of the day will se each other as part of the same culture deep down inside, contrary to Americans (even though they might claim that they do as well, they don’t, just being ‘american’ isn’t enough for common culture and history).
