I really appreciate how Dave shows a diagram (on the screen of his head unit) and then goes on to show his actual wiring throughout his vehicle, whereas many other post a video from a mock-up on a workbench and it isn't the same

Just installed the eonon supplied camera. The current VW12S-6G unit has a labeled red wire with the reverse camera written on it. So the purple wire isn't required any more. You can just connect the piggy back wire off the reverse cam to the red wire. Hook up the rca and away you go.

I installed on the tail gate so throught the rubber wire fittings and then I used a strip of plastic to run the wire between the head liner and the roof. It worked perfectly and took all of two minuts to do the roof bit. When I went to look for the other end with the stip of plastic (yellow tongue) it had feed itself down the A piller. Took off the little triangle piece of trim at the end of the dash board and there was the end ready to feed across to the middle of the dash. All up about a 2 - 3 hour task. Getting the trim back on was the hardest job.

What a great way to get a back up camera done! I did the same to my bmw today, and it worked fine. Thanks a lot.

Just like mine however my power comes from the red wire just spliced into the 3rd wire only to give it power which was pink for me and says “Back”, great video👌🏻

I’ve seen 100 ways to do it, but yours was the quickest and Easyest one. Thanks Man :)

I connected everything exactly the same. Couldn't work out why. Anyway on my seicane head unit (cheap chinese one) there's a a brown cable called reverse. Just wired the pigtail to that and everything works.

Amazing video. Been looking tons of videos on how to wire my BMW backup camera. With can bus decoder deal I wired it in one hour. Thanks, keep up with good advices.

Awesome thanks will give it a try, the instructions with the camera were confusing!

So basically, if the head unit has canbus decoder, there should be a cable where the camera can be powered from rather from rear tail light. Makes sense.

Thank you so much, I've fixed the flickering issue in my camera unit🙌

This setup will have the camera on all the time. The instructions in some cameras say to only have it powered on for short periods(mine says 10 minutes). If that is the case you'd need to connect to the reverse light or any other signal that is only on in reverse

Hey Dave.. i’m just installing my new camera but the wires are slightly different. One end has the yellow input plug and splice, (stereo side) whereas the other end has both the red and yellow plug but an additional red and black cable this end near the camera end. Is it easier just to tap to the 12v cigarette lighter, or extend the cable all the way back to the head unit?

Hey Dave, thanks for the great vids. My eonon back up camera doesn’t have a power cable to splice too. Am I missing something here?

Hi Dave great video. I was wondering if by any chance I could connect my reverse camera on the reverse parking sensors box which is in the boot behind the trims. I got a golf mk5. Cheers
