Crispy charred roasted brussel sprouts are a delicious side dish that can be prepared quickly and easily to pair up with your favorite main course. Join Eric from Simply Elegant Home Cooking as he demonstrates his take on this classic recipe! One of the keys to getting a great brussel sprout is to use high heat which allows the exterior to char. The char will give your brussel sprouts a ton of extra flavor. Also, be sure to preheat your sheet pan as Eric demonstrates in this video. This dish can be dressed up by adding bacon, fresh thyme, or shallots so feel free to experiment with yours but today Eric will just be adding a little bit of a high quality, thick, aged balsamic vinegar.

Ingredients:
-1 pound brussel sprouts
-4 tablespoon good olive oil
-1 teaspoon aged balsamic vinegar
-salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
-Rinse and dry the brussel sprouts thoroughly.
-Preheat the oven to 425 degree f and place your sheet pan in the oven so that it preheats as well.
-Cut the ends off the brussel sprouts and cut them in half.
Place the brussel sprouts in a large bowl, add the olive oil, salt, and pepper and mix thoroughly.
-Once oven is preheated, pour the brussel sprouts onto the hot sheet pan and use a pair of tongs to turn all of the brussel sprouts so that they're cut side down.
-Cook the brussel sprouts in the oven for 18-20 minutes or until nicely charred on the cut side.
-Turn the brussel sprouts, and cook another 6-8 minutes.
-Remove brussel sprouts from the oven, drizzle with a small amount of the balsamic vinegar, and stir to evenly incorporate.
-Serve and enjoy!

My brussels sprouts turned out DELICIOUS, like from a restaurant! SO good. I'm making them again tomorrow for Christmas dinner - they're my contribution. I'm adding garlic, bacon and parmesan and I'm super excited 😆

Thank you for this recipe!!

This is one of my go-to sides, but this is the first time seeing the preheating of the roasting tray trick. Trying it tonight…Thanks!

I just tried your recipe with one variation. Instead of using traditional balsamic vinegar to finish it, I used cara cara orange white balsamic vinegar & it was fantastic! Your techniques, temperature & cooking time were right on the mark for my oven. This is a wonderful healthy dish. Everyone should give it a try.

I finally achieved the crispiness and flavor I was looking for through this simple recipe! My mistakes were not roasting on a bare hot sheet pan as shown. In the past, I would line the sheet pan with aluminum foil and then put the pan in the oven once the desired temperature was reached.

Thank you for showing how to cook these in an easily understandable way. I am a kitchen novice and will try cooking brussel sprouts for the first time.

The last 3-4 times I’ve made Brussels on my own I burned them to a crisp, this video helped me finally make them really good! Thanks so much!! 😊

These look amazing! I love Brussels sprouts – especially when they’re roasted crispy with sticky-sweet glaze. That crispy gone soggy action is so satisfying. Definitely trying this one out! Have tested a couple from Bon Appétit in the past that were amazing.

Those are perfect. This is EXACTLY how I make mine. Great directions!! You’re right. The aged balsamic has to be high quality and a lil thick or it doesn’t work. Dry aged is 💰

Nice! I'm a big advocate for roasted vegetables, it concentrates the taste. It works really well with Brussels sprouts and other brassicas.

I'm trying to get into cooking after realizing how terrible my diet has been during quarantine. I never knew you could fry things this way - these tasted fantastic without needing a canola oil bath! Thank you!
