My Grandma is from a tiny town on Sunnmøre in Norway. When a lot is happening at once she says in her dialect: «det ekje berre ei kyr so e lause» «its not just one cow on the loose»

It's true. They send it to norway.

Ah, so this is why the Norwegian course on Duolingo is teaching me how to say it's raining in Bergen and how to ask if it's raining there 😂

Nice one, and here in western Norway we are blessed by the rain. In fact, my grandma used to say "when God created Western Norway, he was so pleased that he ordered it to be washed and cleaned every single day"

"Då Gud laga Vestlandet var han so nøgd at han beordra at det vart vaska kver dag"

❤️ to the people from Grindavík. When it rains it pours indeed.

A friend used to say "The waves may come in ones and twos, but if you try to fight the tide you'll always lose"

One time I went to Bergen and it was sunny for a few hours. Then it rained later in the afternoon. True story!

In sweden we say "det är inte lätt när det är svårt" which litterly just means " it's not easy when it's hard"

In the north of norway we say "when the Devil shits, he shits a lot."

This is why I as a Swede like Norway, they take all those ridiculous amounts of rain and snow, and leave us a sensible amount 😅

My favorite Icelandic saying:

"Það er skammgóður vermir að pissa í skó sinn."

"When it rains it waves more than once". Combined both idioms.

the idiom originally was along the lines of it never rains, it pours. morton salt company adapted that idiom into a slogan “when it rains, it pours” as their salt wasn’t supposed to clump in the damp!

Yeah, you send all that rain to Ireland, too - thanks a bunch! 😄

The thing is.. in my experience at least.. that the weather in Iceland changes literally every ten seconds. During a period of a minute or two you can experience rain showers, sunshine, a bit of wind, nice and quiet, and repeat.
