I never played swg growing up, despite having the opportunity to do so. Something I always kind of regretted, as I love sci-fi and mmos and it seemed perfect. I also didn’t really know anything about the game outside of a few screenshots, but this really sold me on it. Just starting as an entertainer, for example, makes me want to finally give the game a try. Thanks!

I never got the chance to play swg at the beginning, first time I played was NGE. I now understand player frustration for changing the game so drastically. Just be sure not to sell it short, legends is fantastic with a lot of custom well made content

Before I returned to Project Gorgon, I was playing SWG for the bulk of 2021. I played on both SWGEmu and SWGLegends. Legends was way more populated and active, but it was the "later game" so I know purists don't like it. Basilisk server felt dead most of the time. Only saw AFK macro dancers in the Cantina whenever I visit.

Great Video! I play SWG on the Legends Server even though that's NGE just because I enjoy the themepark quests & Jump to Lightspeed Expansion. Although, I have played SWG on EMU Pre NGE and I must say it's fun. So I recommend both experiences to players depending on what style of SWG you like.

Love your video on swgemu! But give swg restoration a look, is set in the CU era of the game but theyre adding all the good features from the NGE slowly but with all the professions and depth of the CU oh and no combat que lol

Beautiful video. The push i needed for finally trying SWG; played SWTOR for a while but Galaxies just seems to be the more interesting and immersive game.

SWG was one of the best MMOs of all time, mainly due to its originality (game mechanics and design) and community driven environment. The problem with the game is that in the combat professions in order to succeed you are limited to less then a handful of cookie cutter setup, ie msword/def stacker. The game needed balance which somewhat came out with the CU, but the incessant whinning drove us to the NGE which was basically hello kitty island on roids. Now we have a chance to relive the magic of the beginning. Only problem is that the glaring issues from the beginning (imbalance), still exists. This problem is only compounded by the absolute stubbornness of the developers and the unwillingness to hear the community out. It took almost ten years of people begging on the forums for a fresh server for them to finally bring it to a community vote, and look the community was right. Typically though all we get from them is nerf after nerf after nerf. I give swgemu about 1 to 2 yes before it is completely dead again. If 1.0 server ever becomes reality you might see another surge then, but the same problems will exist, and again it will fail. There are other, better, servers but they don't have the population numbers to support this type of game properly. The community is sadly to fractured to give those better severs, with developers who are more open minded any real chance of taking off. This game will always hold a special place in my heart, but sadly it is only a ghost of what could have been.

SWG!! my all time favorite MMO, maybe because it was my first MMO..anyways loved it, and still play the emu's off and on today, and always will has long as they're around. ☺

I loved this game in 2003. Currently I also play on Finalizer Server. But I have to admit: It's very very unlikley that it is possible to keep new players motivated to break the learning curve difficulty of SWG. It's just very very hard for new players.

Sony (SOE) had a point when they said "Game is currently too difficult for new players". They where right about that point, but nevertheless it was a terrible mistake to destroy the game like they did in 2004/2005 with the NGE.

I also just can't see anyone with a real life invest that much time and energy into this wonderful game. It's just too time consuming.
