Which Star Wars Galaxies server should you play? There are several awesome SWG MMORPG server options out there including SWG Legends, SWGEMU ( Basilisk ), Restoration, Starstrider, etc.

Star Wars Galaxies is the greatest MMO ever. It was great at launch. It was great at Combat Upgrade, and it was pretty great when it ended during the Combat Upgrade era.

I've been aware of SWG emulation for at least a year now, I never played the original but have been considering the emulators recently. Very glad I found this cause now I think I'm gonna try them all and see what sticks for me.

Just ordered 2 copies from eBay; one for me and the lady! She has never played and was tired of me talking about it through the years as one of my favorite games of all time. So excited to get back into it! Pre-CU (SWGEmu) for me! I was one of the die-hards that lost it when NGE came through.

I used to play SWG back in middle school and was absolutely heartbroken to see the servers down and never to be back up one day. I'm out smoking in my shed right now and it just happened to cross my mind, this video put me over the fence to get back into it; I think I'm gonna try Legends first! Consider me subscriber 251!

I more than likely won't ever play this game and back when I did, I only played a trial that I had stolen off of Limewire. But I have found myself going down a rabbit hole about Star Wars Galaxies for some reason, I love these niche little communities and moments in gaming history. Super happy that we have channels and creators like you who still cover SWG. Keep it up!

Just watched this video... and I must say wow haha. I went and pretty much followed the path you described. Started playing with SWG ages ago, watched it go through the Pre CU -> CU -> NGE -> What I like to call NGE+ (the added stuff that did in some huge ways redeem NGE).

As such, when the emulation started. I found myself playing on Basilisk, and then missing all the fun content that came to be associated with NGE (SPACE, extra crafting systems.... better Droid Engineering FTW), I went and hopped on legends. But then I found myself bouncing between Basilisk and Legends.... because playing one, always left me nostalgic for something from the other.

As is, I've now found that happy medium I feel on Restoration. As is, I've been playing for about a week, and am IN LOVE with the work that so far is being put forth to make this a workable amalgamation of CU, and NGE.

And the progress from what I am seeing is being made! Perhaps, it helps that they are working backwards (from what I can tell at least?), using NGE as a base and adding CU's mechanics in. Which has allowed them to start with things such as all the NGE content (mustafar, kashyk, JTL, etc)... and going back and adding in the the skill trees, skill unlocks, and various Pre NGE bits'n'bobs. But it really feels so far that it's all there!

The only thing, so far that I've yet to not see in the game yet, is the CH system fully implemented since you are missing baby mobs (from what I've seen in my ~ 2 weeks?) and the ability to tame them. But you can work from eggs and so on... so take it for what it's worth.

All in all, the only thing that this game is missing is a larger community... which is a normal thing for a project that is starting to pick up steam.

That said, the only way to remedy that is to well... make a community. So that said, if folks are curious about it... come on over! Because this way, we can start to build that community, and see how this game evolves as people start to fill up the niches of this world and make things happen!

All of that said, and done... who knows, I may get to see people from here over there... and I look forward to it! :3

Loved my time playing on Basilisk, SWG Emu is fantastic and I 100% recommend it to anybody looking to experience the height of the pre-altered version of the game. I didn't know any of these others existed (shows how long it's been since I checked in on this). Good to see other options are out there, means we're likely to end up having options when it comes to which version we want to play.

After watching, I definitely want to try Legends for the space flight content.. and Restoration could end up being the most entertaining if they take what one subjectively likes the most about each and mash it together.

So many good memories of pre CU, pre NGE SWG. That skill system, man... if basilisk had JTL I would relight that candle... probably best I just keep the good memories.

i played SWG EMU on Basilisk among the few how followed the project from the start. at one point we had 2300 players online. not only 1600. that was shortly after theCH and some other jobs made it into teh game..EVERYBODY was grinding a CH of some sort at that time ..but ti faded out slowly. IF they had launched JTL ..shortly after wards..thy might have been able to RELIGHT the CANDLE.. but they didnt.. and i think up to THIS DAY Basilisk has no JTL yet.. and it seem it will never come..

I love playing on Basilisk and have done since it first came online but I might have a look at Legends and Restoration III out of curiosity and to see what they've added over the years.

I played first on Basilisk later on Rouge One (Dont like Player outside from Us the team Exist anymore), SWGFlurry is a fun Server bud no JTL nud fast levling, SWGLegends NGE good Improvmends what i missing is Decay New Players with no PA can have on high lvl not enough credits for the Weapons or Amor my Conclusion. It was and is and always will be the best MMO ever why can't someone just remake the game with a different skin you know It doesn't have to be Star wars if it played like SWG people would flock to it

Having playing Pre-CU Era pretty much all day long on multiple "private" servers and aswell on Basillisk I'm quiet torn about what to actually pick.

I love the grinding in Pre-CU, the progression of your character and most importantly, the ability to choose what you want to play.

However having played on Legends for about 2 weeks now, I must say, i actually enjoy the NGE era aswell.. Once you hit 90, there is so much content to pick. Where as in Pre-CU the content is pretty much the levelling in my opinion.
