SWGEmu VS Legends - Star Wars Galaxies MMO In 2021

In this video we go over what we consider to be the most relevant Star wars Galaxies server in 2021 between SWGEmu and Legends. SWGEmu vs Legends.
I love them both but with the bespin content, jump to lightspeed and the consistent player base we went with SWG Legends.

I play on the Basilisk EMU server and have done for years. It’s a shame that the amount of people on the server have dropped but I still prefer the sandbox nature of the original game.

I am playing both at the same time and I am loving it. All players I met are fantastic and charismatic people. The gameplay is different, but both ways to level the character are good. What makes me spend more time at SWGEMU right now is the fact that it is much more stable than Legends. When I'm leveling my Jedi in Legends, it feels like I'm playing on a PC from the 2000s on a dial-up internet. All places lags so much, even in places outside the cities where there are only me and six enemies on my screen.
When I press a skills bar hotkey, depending on the server’s time, it took about 15 seconds for them to be executed and getting loot from dead bodies on the floor is even worse, because the lootbox takes a while to open and when it's open I double click on the credits and I have to wait another 10 seconds for their server to receive my action. Now, imagine the time it takes to do this on 6 dead enemies. However I have a high end PC and the best internet that my neighborhood can have. Anyway, the simple, fast and effective experience of SWGEMU is currently captivating me more, but I know that the real fun is in Legends, because there I could for example use appearance items, which in my opinion is one of the best things they have developed for MMORPG games where our character is the focus of the game.

1.0 is only the start of the Emu. As for legends. I played all the classes in a day, got Jedi in a second. Couldn't hunt them either. BASILISK for Life

I remember playing on the pre cu swg and joined the corbantis server and saw a Jedi running through the starting area I chose at naboo. Then I didn't see another jedi for a month. The exclusivity of unlocking jedi and rising through the ranks is what made the game so awesome and has left me searching for something similar. People who wished for the cu and nge should have just quit and played WoW. It ruined a game with such uniqueness that has yet to be matched.

Haven't been on Legends. Never cared for the NGE but I did play it through to the end. My favorite era was probably (and I may stand alone on this) the CU period. It made the combat simpler but retained the profession trees that really allowed each character to be unique. Not sure if I'll go to Legends because I don't want to be stuck with a specific profession and having Jedi as a profession instead of something that you have to really either strive for or dumb into (since Jedi were actually uncommon during the GCW) makes it a kind of cheap experience. I had big Hope's for EMU but they are progressing way too slow for me. Played for a while and haven't been on in about a year.

The issue is that SWG was made a big thing because it was supposed to recreate the sense of being in the Star Wars universe as your own being. The NGE/Legends change completely eradicated that. You couldn't do what you wanted to do profession-wise, and there were jedi EVERYWHERE.

When you're trying hawk your wares or craft or just travel, and every 5 minutes you see a jedi, the immersion is gone. I'm sure it's fun to fight as a jedi, but I'd bet if you look at the professions in legends, whats the majority class: Jedi.

So, even if SWGEmu has less (all mmos have a limit if they aren't PG after all) I'll play for immersion over the jedi experience, which to be blunt, is what the NGE was ALL about. It doesn't matter if they "smoothed things out", the REASON people left wasn't becasue SoE borked a release, it's because SoE purged SWG of the things people wanted: A unique, star wars universe-esque game, not a game with wizards running around everywhere.

I was late to the party, being too young for classic SWG so I started playing around the NGE came around.
I've tried both and honestly the NGE just feels more playable, even if it's streamlined.
The learning curve in classic was real tedious, but I did like the rarity of Jedi in it.
Idk, the grind of spending months aimlessly killing enemies just to unlock the Jedi only for some chucklefuck to hunt you down a few times to ruin all that progress feels like it wouldn't be fun. Not for the Jedi at least.

basilisk for life. if they would only add random animations to melee attacks then it would be much better!!!! all the attack animations added to the stronghest skills it would be so awesome. Yeah you areright, NGE gets a lot more content, but anyways, combat system would never be defeated by NGE, they nerfed the whole system with that

I have heard Legends is pretty cool but SWGEMU is alive and well... Yes Basilisk is basically an Alpha server but there are a bunch of servers built on SWGemu that are sanctioned and are very active.

I play on Basilisk. I have wanted to play on Legends as well but I'm computer illiterate and can't figure out how to get them both to work on the same computer. I know there are directions out there but I just don't understand moving stuff to different folders and renaming and so on to keep them from being in conflict. I don't want to delete the swgemu just to be able to download legends. If someone came out with step by step directions to click here and do this and click there and do this type thing I'd gladly play both.

The best way I can compare this is WoW. They are almost parallels with Classic (basalisk) and Retail (legends)
For over a decade classic has retained popularity regardless of knowing every minor detail being picked apart and knowing how to minmax to the extreme, people still play it. I personally have a lot of fun; others do not and went back to retail. Retail you get new content and updates and all that good stuff. One isn't necessarily better than the other, it just depends on how you like to play the game.

I plan on playing legends, but right now I'm sinking a lot of time into basilisk because I'm just trying to get glowie; its the start of a new phase and grinding jedi is one of my gamer goals I've had for over a decade. Several of which I ticked off this year, surprisingly. Basilisk is in stasis, for sure. I'll be giving Legends a try soon; I think like most people when the NGE came out I was so angry and I really didn't give it a chance and honestly I'm a different type of gamer now. From the footage I've watched from Napyet it looks like something I'd really enjoy.

Great vid man. I never played live but I started playing emu 5 years ago and finally tried legends this year and I love a lot of things about legends except the Jedi system and that being a Jedi isn't special on legends and I don't like the cookie cutter-ness of legends, but Legends as a whole I'd definitely better. I'll probably always go back and forth between the two like you do 👍 Glad they both exist 🙂

Playing on Basilisk, simply just cannot stand NGE - not my cup of tea. I'v been trying to get in to it.. but nope, the game is just "Meh".

i really dont see the "VS" in this??? two diffrent kind of games
