As a launch day through server shut down player of SWG, and having on of the first 3 or 4 Jedi unlocks on the server I was SO excited when I saw a dedicated group of folks had started working on rebuilding the servers from scratch. Over the years since that time I've just not had the time to get back into it. But I"m litterally reinstalling from my original disks now and am definately making a toon on Bloodfin this afternoon :).

I think the reason SWG resonated with so many fans was because as kids most of us wanted to live in the Star Wars galaxy, and not necessarily as some epic hero. Being able to experience the world as a nobody felt so much more epic and immersive than SWTOR which was more like watching a movie.

My best moment was unlocking Jedi and having the old man visiting me. Tarquintas

Best moment: In the original Jedi unlock system, having the old man show up randomly after you had finally grinded out that 5th randomly generated class master you needed and he told you to meet him... That was a drop EVERYTHING moment and get that 6-8month grind worth of satisfaction. Back then we could only have ONE toon on the server, then you got the Jedi slot.

After grinding through to Master Jedi, which later became Elder Jedi if you had a jedi before the garbage CU update, getting jumped by a gang of bounty hunters as I was passing through the Coronet spaceport and killing about 30 of them before I could get out of there and back to the sanctuary of my house. If I remember right Jedi ALWAYS had their PVP flag up, so we could get jumped anywhere at any time.

SWG had teh absolute BEST and most rewarding crafting system as well of ANY MMO ever, and that still holds true. It was actually rewarding to spend all day surveying to find those PERFECT rolled resources when the resource table on the planets would reset, dropping a pile of harvesters... Then spending hours crafting epic quality gear that no one else on the market could touch.

RESTO still Besto :) SWGr3 but yes SWGEMU's awsome too, and were the ones that helped make Fan servers possible. many thanks to all the volunteer Dev's and Contributors etc !

Idk what it is about SWG (pre-cu moreso) but it’s truly unmatched and one of a kind, and also maybe a testament to the death of complicated, high-entry barrier open world sandbox MMOs. More specifically, it isn’t a log in and complete a task style MMO. In regards to depth and complexity, it’s miles ahead of WoW, but below BDO/Eve. Sadly, this is still too complicated for a niche genre MMORPG such as Star Wars. Opposite end of the spectrum being a single player story game with around 2-hours of end-game content. I’m excited to see what the Resto/Legends community holds for the future.

Love to see SWG is still the shit I prefer legends but no computer to play it with atm ugh lol

As a new player which emulator would you recommend I play on? I like working for my lightsaber but I don’t want it to take years in real life as I read someone say online which I thought was insane I do like the variety of choice in EMU as the role playing potential is awesome I can pretend to be a force sensitive bounty hunter or an entertainer who does smuggling on the side and that really draws me in but as for Legends there’s tons of content and I like having quests and PVE as I’m not much of a PVP except for defense but you’re so limited in what you can do bc of your class I wanna be more than just a Jedi, Commando or Bounty Hunter I wanna have a roleplaying journey of my own but also some legit questing which I hear EMU is severely lacking in or more specifically content in general.. Could anyone throw me any recommendations?
