Jean Charest on Conservative leadership bid, opponent Poilievre

Conservative leadership hopeful Jean Charest is turning up the heat against perceived frontrunner Pierre Poilievre, taking him to task for his support of the trucker protests that took over downtown Ottawa and led to blockades at border crossings.

This guy has just as much trouble answering a direct question that Trudeau does. I just bought a Conservative membership to help ensure Pierre wins. If Charest wins and we get his blue liberal government, then I'll tear up my membership and vote for Western Separation.

the blockade was not illegal. Trudeau called it illegal but that did not make it illegal. It was a Canadian protest. A protest. And Pierre was the only politician to act like a real politician. And like a real leader.

In is career from 2004 on, Charest had settled into an approach of higher spending, increased debt, and repeated tax hikes. From a billion dollar increase in hydroelectricity rates to the doubling of licence registration fees, increases in payroll taxes, gas taxes, daycare fees, and brought in the carbon tax. Not to mention increase tuition fees that lead students to protest and eventually contributed to his defeat. Charest made life less affordable for working families. This is the situation we are now with current gov policies.

I will vote for Poilievre. We feel Pierre is a much much better choice for the job. Charest will lose the federal election for the conservatives if he is chosen as leader. Young voters really like Mr Poilievre.
