CTV Montreal reports on a meeting between Conservative Party of Canada caucus members and Jean Charest in Ottawa on March 2, 2022. Charest held the meeting to assess caucus support for his possible entry into the Party's leadership contest which is now set to conclude on September 10, 2022. Charest, who will turn 64 on June 24, 2022, was the youngest federal cabinet minister in Canadian history when he joined Brian Mulroney's cabinet in 1986. He became Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party after the 1993 election. Charest was selected as Leader of the Quebec Liberal Party in 1998 and became Premier of the province in 2003, a post he held until 2012.
