this was really helpful, thank you for posting this! I always sit down and stare at my piece of paper and i feel so much pressure to make something beautiful and in my freetime i look through a lot of art on social media so i'm constantly comparing my abilities to others and i really appreciated what you had to say on this topic <3

After thinking about the same stuff I came to think that having a well defined style and being specialized in a style, living in a niche is good for commissioned work but as an artist you need to explore photography in all it's different styles because it's your medium and getting good with your medium is important if that's how you make a living. It's like having a musical instrument and exploring different style but making a living playing your instrument in the symphony orchestra.

Posing the question about whether or not you are truly inspired by the artistic value of a piece or are you simply appreciating Kermit the Frog is a question I'm sure many of artists have spent decades trying to determine
