Corporate buyers created the high demand for the 4090. Theys used it for Ai development and machine learning projects. This caused 4090 prices to skyrocket… The same will happen with the 5090 as it is even better for Ai development and machine learning projects.

unfortunately that is the price we pay for allowing so much manufacturing to move to china, if we do not implement tariffs this deficit is only going to get worse and china is only going to continue eclipsing us in production

In the age of AI we're heavily relying on vram. An upgrade from 24gb to 32gb is disappointing and doesn't justify a investment of 2500 bucks. Would have considered if the 5090 if it had 48gb. I'll guess I'm gonna skip the 5000 series too.

Surely they make server-grade cards for high end business and separate 5090 retail cards for consumers?
Something doesn't add up. Perhaps there's a bit of marketing hype being rolled out here.
Either way the proposed pricing (so far) seems way out of touch with reality on the street, lack of jobs and inflation everywhere. It's just silly.

Prolly just gonna end up buying a used for 4090 from the wave of morons that sell theirs to get a 15% jump in perf to a 5090 for $2500

Easy - reshore manufacturing. Theres already a big shift to US mfg for chips, this would accelerate this trend. That's a good thing. Look at covid for a big example of over reliance on China for mfg.

I say, BOYCOTTING Nvidia's 5000 series would be a good lesson for their abusive monopoly... Three months ago, I finally had a good budget for a new PC build. I refused all the deals on the 4080 and 4090 to wait for the 5000 series. I really want to buy it (I can afford it), BUT I refuse to do so on principle!! And if no one buys, by mid-2025, you'll see 5090s at 1500$ and RTX 5080s at 800$ + the announcement of a 6090 series at 1800$ (max at launch).

It was already outrageous, everyone gave in, it's time to boycott, guys!
