If going from the 1080 to the 4090 is considered a massive leap in performance, i can't imagine how it will be when i go from the 1070 to the 5090.

Yes. You should always ditch the last current thing for the current thing until the next current thing.

I might upgrade depending on the price, of course!

LMAO imaging having a 4090 and thinking maybe It's time for an upgrade.

Are you kidding me, microsoft flight simulator is limited by cpu performance not GPU, you should just try to figure out what‘s wrong with your dlss, and you should definitely try to turn on frame generation for that specific game.
No matter how great the 5090 is, it would never bring 10% more performance in that game…

This is what happens every generation. The previous one become "outdated" even though the previous gen can play pretty much every game at high/ultra settings.
The cheapest RTX 4090 version cost 2150$ here in Norway at release.
If Nvidia continue increasing the prices more they will eventually lose the gamer market and the crypto miners and supercomputer owners will end up being the only buyers.

If Nvidia for example increase the price to 3000$ here it is going to be a very hard sell even for the most interested people.
I have spent 12 500$ on my entire setup and I would very likely be skipping the 5090 if they increase the price any more. I could get so many other things for that money and it would lose 50% of it's value instantly when the next generation comes anyway.

It's crazy to pay anything 1k(+) for a GPU.

I'm on fire for the 5090, I can find after that a reasonable 2070 to upgrade my set-up

I just wanna know how the 5080 or 5090 will perform on a 1440p monitor with my ryzen 7800X3D CPU!!

3090ti to 4090 claimed groundbreaking advancements. i own both.... a few more cuda cores and slight boost in clock speed saved me a few seconds in rendering and AI model training. I never experienced a 70 percent performance gain like claimed . A 512 memory bus, 48gb of ddr7 vram and a faster clock would be ideal. But with those specs be prepared to pay 3000 for a card.

This is my current setup:

Operating System: Windows 11 Home
CPU: Intel Core i9 14900KS 8 P-Core, 16 E-Core, 32-Thread Processor
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4090 Windforce V2 with support for DLSS 3.5 - AI-Powered Performance
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 UD-AC DDR5
RAM: TeamGroup Delta RGB 64GB DDR5 6000 MHz (2x32GB)
SSD: Kingston 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD
CPU Cooler: EKWB RGB 360MM AIO Liquid Cooler
PSU: ABS ATX 1000W 80+ Gold

Would I have to upgrade the motherboard too if I was to sell my second kidney for a 5090?

they're not going to reduce the power usage by 4 like they did with AI cards. It matters for a company that runs thousands of them, but for gamers it's pointless, it'll just be a wast of performance. You can't compare blackwell and gaming GPU, it is two different tech, even tho they're both tecnically GPUs

I've put $4000 away for the exchange. I'm ready.

I would love to see them reduce the TDP (power draw) and maybe a slightly smaller card ! That would enable me to finally put this into a Mini ITX chase without having to down clock it! 😅

Yes, you should throw It into the thrash immediately. Ah, those clickbait titles, they are hopeless.

They should ditch the 90 lineup and make the 80 ti the high end like 1080 ti and 2080 ti

yeah ditch 4090 and get 5090 for extra 10fps with more wattage hungry

Any MLiD or NAAF fan deserves a shot. Follow.

Edit: I have a 3080FE and plan on grabbing a 5090 on launch day (sleeping in the Best Buy parking lot ;^) . If it comes out at something silly, like say $3000 USD or wtv. then I'll either get a 5080 or a used 4090 I suppose. The 5080 seems like a no-brainer but the 16GB of VRAM really bugs me on a card I anticipate commanding $1100+ so...suppose we'll find out soon enough.
