NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell AI servers, RTX 5080 power concerns, Intel CPU leaks, Acer’s new gaming handheld, and PlayStation 5 Pro spec debates.

NVIDIA Blackwell AI Servers Shipping in Q4 2024
NVIDIA's Blackwell GB200 AI servers are set to ship in Q4 2024, marking a big move in the AI market. These new servers are designed to deliver top-tier performance in AI workloads, potentially surpassing NVIDIA's current offerings. Blackwell represents a shift in NVIDIA’s strategy, focusing on next-generation AI tasks, which are becoming more crucial in various industries. This release could set a new standard for AI computing, making NVIDIA even more dominant in this space. The early launch suggests NVIDIA is pushing to get ahead of competitors and secure its leadership in the AI server market.

NVIDIA RTX 5080 GPU Performance and Power
The upcoming NVIDIA RTX 5080 GPU is rumored to be about 10% faster than the current RTX 4090, which is already a powerhouse. However, this speed boost comes with a catch: it might consume almost as much power as the 4090, which means it could still be quite demanding in terms of energy usage. This could be a bit of a concern for those mindful of power efficiency and heat management, but for gamers and creators who need top-tier performance, this trade-off might be worth it. Expect it to push high-end PC builds even further, but also be prepared for increased power requirements.

NVIDIA Blackwell’s Design Changes and Power Consumption
NVIDIA’s new Blackwell GPUs, which include the upcoming RTX 50 series, might come with some design changes that could affect power consumption. The updated design is expected to enhance performance but also lead to higher power usage, making these cards more power-hungry compared to previous models. While this could mean better performance overall, it might also require users to consider beefier power supplies and better cooling solutions to handle the increased heat output. These changes suggest that NVIDIA is focusing heavily on maximizing raw performance, even if it means drawing more power.

NVIDIA Denies DOJ Subpoena Rumors
Recently, rumors circulated that NVIDIA had received a subpoena from the Department of Justice related to their business practices, but NVIDIA has denied any such claims. This denial puts a stop to some of the speculation around NVIDIA's legal standing, particularly concerning its market dominance and business conduct. While it's still unclear how this situation will unfold, for now, NVIDIA maintains that it has not been legally challenged by the DOJ, keeping its business operations unaffected for the time being.

Intel Core Ultra 7 265K CPU Leak
A leak about Intel's Core Ultra 7 265K suggests that this new CPU could reach a multi-core boost of 5.2 GHz, placing it close in performance to the Intel i7-14700K. This chip looks like it’s going to be a strong competitor in the high-performance CPU market, delivering solid speeds for both gaming and productivity tasks. With numbers like this, Intel seems to be gearing up to compete directly with AMD’s latest offerings, aiming to provide users with powerful options for their next PC build.

Acer’s Nitro Blaze Gaming Handheld
Acer is entering the gaming handheld market with the Nitro Blaze, which seems to be taking a shot at capturing gamers looking for a portable gaming solution. This handheld is aimed at delivering a solid gaming experience on the go, and it’s a move that could put Acer in direct competition with devices like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. As handheld gaming continues to grow in popularity, Acer’s entry into this market could bring more options for gamers looking to play high-quality games without being tied to a console or PC.

MSI’s New MEG X870E Motherboards
MSI has just unveiled its new MEG X870E motherboards, including the flagship Godlike model. These boards are packed with features designed to support the latest high-performance CPUs and GPUs, offering plenty of connectivity options, advanced cooling solutions, and overclocking capabilities. These motherboards are aimed at gamers and enthusiasts who want the best hardware to get the most out of their systems. With support for the latest technology, MSI’s new boards are set to be popular choices for high-end PC builds.

PlayStation 5 Pro Leaked Specs
Leaked specs for the PlayStation 5 Pro have been causing a stir among fans, as the improvements seem significant but not without controversy. The Pro model is expected to feature higher clock speeds, better ray tracing performance, and possibly improved 4K gaming capabilities. However, opinions are divided on whether these upgrades justify a new version of the console or if it’s too soon since the launch of the PS5. The mixed reactions suggest that while some are excited about better hardware, others feel that the current PS5 still has plenty of untapped potential.

Pretty curious how the new motherboards for the 9000 series CPUs will improve performance given a simple windows update did so much. Been putting off the 9950X PC Build for that reason, just chillen with the 14900k atm lol

I’m buying a 5090 to play Escape from Tarkov and a 5080 to set my coffee on.

I'm not sure if I took advantage of the 4090 long enough to get a 5090. That's what happened with the 3090 when I've jumped on the 4090 after 1 year and 2 months. 3090 is still a beast, even for 4K gaming in many titles. 4090 is the best GPU in the world rn (at least in RTX tytles and 4K gaming) and I'm not sure the 5090 upgrade will make sense from this level. I might have to get it only for the channel.. to stay relevant in searches... It will be a hard decision.. I rather buy Nvidia's shares instead atm...

Personally i don't think they will release a 5090 that pulls 600w due to the power connector being limited to 600w max.Manufacturers have to allow for over head so when the music stops there not liable for a law suite. That's why gpu companys and psu companys work hand in hand.

I have my computer in a full basement. I don’t worry about heat. I don’t care about power draw. I bought a 1000w power supply specifically for a powerful GPU. I also bought an Evo XL case so I did not need to worry about how much space the graphics card took up. My computer has 16 fans in it too which is great for cooling.

if the 5080 is under 1k i'll go with that. sitting on a 3070 right now.

I wonder if you would need a motherboard with a pcie 5 or can you still run it on a pcie 4

Nvidia always advertises that their GPU's run around 100 watts above what it actually uses, because it is a good way to make sure people have a PSU that will handle the card. Look back at the 20, 30 and 40 series.

I think only the raytracing performance of the 5080 will beat the 4090 but not in rasterizing 😊

PC building enthusiast here for over 20 years.

Power draw matters A LOT for me and its not because of the costs. The reason why I care is because of fan/cooling noise and heat generation. In the past 15-20 years ago, I used to all out on increasing voltages, these massive cooling systems, but I would sweat my balls off and the PC would be extremely loud with some of the most expensive cooling systems in the world.

My personal opinion, the 4080s and 90s just use way too much power, and I find any of the 4070s from lowest base line to 4070 ti super to be the absolute best performance to power ratio.

I just built a new rig 9 7950x3d water cooled, 4070 ti super TUF, and a very well ventilated case. I can play any game at ultra settings 60 fps or more and stay comfortable in my central ac heated house and you cant hear my pc because it is completely silent. I dont need to use any of the OC features either, just game at stock settings. Its a very enjoyable experience.

10% more powerful, same power draw as 4090 and probably same price.

The 600w TDP is bad for me, because I was assuming 500w and already bought my PSU, if the card is bigger than 365mm in length that means I have to buy a new case, which I have already bought, or I just wait for a 5080 TI, I would prefer the TI but we don’t know if that’s even happening

The 5090 is purely for marketing, virtually no one will buy them, the 5080 buyers will be in the "few" as well.
