The offered solution using exception site list doesn't work in Java 8 with local programs since there is no medium  security setting and it doesn't accept a local file address as an exception site (with or without file:// notation, which somebody else had suggested).

Added the url and still getting blocked.  Latest version of Java Version 8 Update 31 no longer allows Medium security settings!

Well, , This method of adding the exception to the url list can be done if your using Java 8. If you are using java 7, then you can just bring down the security level from High to Medium and everything should work.

Another trick after whitelisting the site, you may have to close ALL browser tabs and re-launch your browser for it to acknowledge the changes.
