How NOT to buy a Volkswagen CC

In this video, we inspect a Volkswagen CC purchased on Facebook Marketplace for $1,200 that claimed to have a blown head gasket. However, the car turned out to have a hail-damaged hood and roof, a missing tail light cover, and so much more. Although the car smokes while running, which may indicate a blown head gasket, the smoke smells weird and gross instead of sweet, which is what would happen if the car had a blown head gasket. So today we will try and figure out what is wrong with this 2.0T TSI CC, and inspect the rest of the car along the way.

It doesn't need a head gasket. It just needs absolutely everything else

That head gasket needs a CC replacement.

When you buy a VW from a former Altima owner...

I will never understand why people can't take even a little care of their vehicles. They spend crazy amounts of cash and proceed to just destroy them. Weird.

Crazy that such a relatively young car can be in such a horrible state

I love Nate's commentary. Just a constant state of "WTF am I witnessing?" 😂

I’ve purchased 2 CCs and regretted buying both of them. Side note, I have 2 CCs for sale if anyone is interested

as an enthusiast and owner of 6 volkswagens throughout the last few years, i can say i fell head over heels with my 2008 Passat, and both the 2012 and 2013 CCs. broke my heart to see the condition of this car, but i love that you guys are continuing to educate on diagnosing and specific chassis issues 🙏🏻 was glad to see an older CC get picked up

Paul is the hero we needed, but don't deserve. I would watch a series where Paul just inspects used VWs and Audis.

Okay $1200 is too much and I’m only 7 minutes in the video. A marketplace gem 💎

They neglect the car for 10 years and be like, "VWs are so unreliable, I'm going to go buy a Toyota"

Are you gonna do a series on completely fixing this this car? It'd be very interesting!

One thing I've learned in the handful of cars I bought. It 100% benefits you financially and mentally to judge the living hell out of the person selling you the car. Ask some basic questions about the car, do they have any clue how a car works? Look at how they dressed to meet a stranger, did they clean up a little or are they there in pajamas? Did you go to their house to see the car, what sort of shape is the house in? Do they just seem like an idiot in general? Is it a backhole dealership with tons of totaled mk6 GTIs, ccs, and other German cars in the back in south Atlanta where the only nice car around is driven by the guy selling a low milage mk6 for a questionably low price? Is that car dirty? Etc. All of these are important and not at all very specific questions that everyone should ask.

Also never buy a car from someone who smoked weed in the car. They're certifiably dumb. I enjoy as much as the next person but be an adult and smoke outside.

First!
Side note, I very much dislike working on CCs 😭 this video was like “average CC owner coming into the dealership for the first time” only to get [customer declined all work only wants oil change]

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the ratchet straps holding the gas tank. Unbelievable. I just believe how badly the previous owner wrecked this CC. I can understand neglect and cars turning into filth buckets but this...this is on another level. Oh and that exhaust tip weld...holy crap!

I had a 2013 CC for 9 years and only thing I needed to worry was services. Overall quality was very good.

"This car was purchased by Devon, who works for us" - That had me checking my DAPRepair invoice. Phew.
