You're amazing!!! I have been looking at how to change the DNS for months, and everyone was saying control panel, control panel. Four minutes into your video, you solved my problem. I am a small company that works with special needs children, and many of our projects are bootstrapped, AKA figuring it out on our own, because money is tight. I can now externally access my Synology.

THANK YOU! I was able to get my device working as a DNS server in order to have my DDNS address work on my local network. This will help me a lot with setting up and testing my reverse proxy on the NAS and enables me to use the DDNS name when setting up apps on my phone. It's honestly maddening how many posts I saw with this issue where there wasn't enough detail for me to get it working.

Thanks for this. Note that google DNS is 8.8.8.8 (as you state) and 8.8.4.4 (the 4.4.4.4 that you use is not Google, I believe).

Hi friends. This is the best installation instruction. I've seen a lot of them!

DNS is domain name service, not dynamic name service.

Not sure if it was corrected or not but Google DNS server address are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Not 4.4.4.4 as stated in the video.

I beg to differ. DNS does not stand for Dynamic Name Service. It stands for Domain Name Service

Thank you so much.
Is there any way to add some kind of ad blocking to this DNS?

Good tutorial. Good use for my DS918+. How do you verify it's working as intended, caching records, please? In setting I see status 0 for queries and TCP. Thanks.

Will you ever make a video for hosting your own domain so the public can access your domain? I have a google one but rather host on my synology.

Is there an easy way using Synology DNS server to have a web browsing log of all the devices in my LAN? The log is so much full with tons of secondary queries that is not easy to tell something apart.

Great video's but quick question Im on a windows 10 machine where would I go to find the DNS tab to enter the ip's

It's totally correct that it's called DHCP Name Server, because that's what get's delivered to devices via DHCP and has nothing to do with the DNS servers you've set up for your USG/UDM. The only thing they could've done is call it "DHCP DNS"
