about the fastening panels for the 3, 5" drives. what about the hard discs that only have 2 holes on both sides? can they be fastened with these panels as well?

Can I run the NAS without installing DSM and wiping my drives? I currently backup to two external drives in their respective enclosures, one connected via eSATA, the other via USB. I simply want to transfer theses drives - and their data - to the NAS and backup to them in one location using Retrospect Backup. Edit: I've since decided a NAS would be overkill in my case, I instead went for two Okion HE235U2S aluminium eSATA/USB 2.0 enclosures.

great video! my first synology. followed each step and then got stuck on the 'veryfing drives in the background' part. It's been there for 3 hours 're-synchronizing 2.55%', 2x4Tb. Gues I'll have to wait 2-3 days to use my first synology 😒feel like pulling the plug and send it back to the shop 😩

For the quick connect feature, does the computer (laptop) need to be connected to the doc where the NAS is plugged in?

After setting up internet access, ftp and shared folder, I can see and map my drive in windows 10. But windows 7 does not show my NAS as part of the domain!? My windows 10 and 7 PC can see each other! Any suggestions?
