The best part of owning a box designed to hold hard drives is as long as there's room for more hard drives you can put more in.

The great part is that you don't have to pay monthly rental cloud service premiums and you won't expect premium inflation over time you basically own the physical hardware.

Don't forget to set up your drives in a RAID configuration, ideally RAID 6!

Well of course you can add more drives if you don’t fill up the bays 😂

What if you run out of 6? A lot of people online are saying something about “expandability”.

Do they mean you can connect more NASes up with cables or?

Thank you 🙏🏻

The worst part is that it's much more technically hard to ensure proper data safety and integrity in a nas than just buying iCloud+. Suddenly you need to keep up a system running in your home 24/7. The drives make noise. You waste your time watching for price drops in hard drives. Big investment. For average Joes I recommend iCloud with time machine to not die in details

Or you can replace the current drives with larger ones if you don't have any more drive bays available.

Remember... Back that NAS up🤦‍♂️🤣 seriously though it's a redundant array of independent disks. Also SHR-2 offers more protection but you lose a drive of space.

the best part of a synology nas is that it gives you storage space for your slippers. 😂

How do you connect the server to a VPN?

The worst thing is you have to use their own disk to get rid of warnings

I want to setup a NAS too, but I need it to be with remote access (from smartphone), is there an easy way to do it?

You don't have it in raid to have data redundancy?
