Here are a couple of ideas for utilizing virtual machines :
1) if your workplace has an app that everyone needs to use but only occasionally, run it on a virtual machine and allow everyone login rights. That will save the cost of a licence for everyone.
2) If you need an app to run 24/7, run it on a virtual machine.
3) If you need to run Linux ( or just try it out ), run it on a virtual machine.
4) If you are regularly trying out apps on your Windows desktop and then deleting them, create a Windows virtual machine and run them there. ( I also have a QNAP NAS and do this there.) Take a snapshot before installing the app; test the app; and then revert to the old Windows instance to avoid problems where Windows does not fully uninstall unwanted apps.

ABB is excellent as a client but man, it’s been 3 months that I’m trying to boot on my PC and my laptop their usb boot rescue device. On my PC the ABB boots but there’s a error and it says there’s not network device driver. On my Lenovo laptop, the usb key doesn’t boot. I will open a ticket at Synology for sure :) my first real problem since December. A small one but everything else is perfect and rock solid.
