*If you can't fix your controller, you can now buy a whole replacement PCB:*

Just check you are buying the same version of controller.

Thank you! I fix broken controllers to resell them and I had one that would not power up sitting around for weeks, just couldn't bear to throw it out. Found your video and I now have a fully functional controller! Thanks again!

There's also kind of spray with a frozen liquid that makes your life easier when detecting a short-circuit. Basically you spray the board ( connected of course ) which makes a thin "ice" layer that lasts for 20/30 secs. If some component is making a short-circuit, you will see how the area around starts to "defrost" very quickly.

Slot1Gamer, you mentioned you would add the capacitor value in the description but I don't see anything. I understand you said you don't necessarily need but but I want to replace it. Does anybody else know what value C30 should be, I couldn't find a schematic anywhere.

For a few days now I've been having synchronization problems with my controller. It all started when I tried to turn on the controller. I press the button, as usual, but I notice that it doesn't flash as long as normal. So I think the problem is that my batteries are probably weak. I open the panel, take the batteries and put them on the charging station. Everything works, the batteries are finally recharged after 2 hours. (These are Energizer brand batteries, this is not the package that Microsoft sells.) Well, it's from now on that's when I have problems. I put the batteries in the right direction, I turn on my controller, and hop, impossible to synchronize it. The button flashes abnormally, as if the battery were low. So I decide to do option two, which is to connect the wire. The peripherals are installed (I am on my PC), and I take this opportunity to install the latest Firmware. A few seconds fall, and everything stops. Soon after, the update stops suddenly and the controller turns off. My controller is dead. I think the problem is that the batteries were rechargeable and when I wanted to connect the controller to the computer, the system thought I wanted to recharge both batteries. So the system caused a short circuit and the firmware did not install properly, therefore corrupted. I now have a controller that is no longer useful. I would like to know if people have experienced the same situation and if there is a way to reset the controller. Please note that nothing is working anymore. No more lights come on.

I'm going totally insane trying to figure out the issue with one of my XB1 controllers... The controller totally refuses to turn on via the Xbox Home button, but will turn on instantly, and work perfectly, (even wirelessly), if I plug a usb cable in for a second. It's never been dropped, never been thrown, or had anything spilled on it, actually this controller has been barely used at all. I've tried every suggestion I can find, but nothing has helped, it just refuses to turn on no matter what I do without a usb cable... Guess it's time to just throw it out a window...

i know this is late but i have a similar problem but the thing with mine is that not only does it not allow for usb cables to connect to my controller, my battery packs when fully charged get drained by my controller within 5 minutes and during that 5 minutes my d-pad overheats like you said. do i need to just remove the ceramic capacitor and will that stop the overheating as well as the battery drainage or is that another issue?

Mine stopped working awhile ago. I have the one s version.

It just blinks once when I press the X button and thats it. No follow up blinks or anything. Basically it wont turn on.

I raged at fornite and threw my controller on the ground and now it’s not turning on...so I should take the controller apart and just push down that dash board thing??

Thanks man, your vid is awesome. It's exactly what I needed!

Only thing.. I don't know anything about capacitors. Could you tell me what kind of capacitor I should look for if I want to solder in a new one? There seems to be so many different specs in capacitors that I can't find the right one.

Thanks :)

For any of you with a newer controller, simply remove the circuit labeled “C33”. My controller didn’t work at ALL, I just shoved out c33 with a screwdriver, and IT WORKED RIGHT AWAY!!

Mine either makes a sound when I try to turn it on then home button flashes or the home button doesn't turn on and it works then my batteries just die

You don’t have to de-solder the wires to get to the motherboard below it, if you remove the right and left bumper the triggers with open more and you can just pull the board up just be careful tho
